Fujitsu Finland Oy and Oras Oy have signed an agreement on IT infrastructure services. The services will be provided in accordance with the Patja operations model, covering workstations and servers at Oras sites in Finland, Norway and Poland as well as sales offices across Europe. Oras has 950 employees.
This agreement is a continuation to a collaboration, which started in 2007. Oras is a family-owned company with its head offices in Rauma. Oras faucets are manufactured at the company's two factories in Finland and Poland.
The Patja service provided for Oras incorporates workstation support and managed services as well as availability services on server environment and databases. Moreover, Fujitsu assumes responsibility for the management and maintenance of AD, VMWare virtualisation platform, Exchange and Lync.
Patja is a cost-efficient end-to-end package that has served us well in Finland and abroad. Along with the renewed contract, our IT infrastructure is even more closely covered by the same fixed-price umbrella. Now our ability to anticipate our IT costs is even better, which makes budgeting easier, among other things, says Aki Saurimaa, Manager, Group IT of Oras.
Approximately half of Oras’ personnel are based outside Finland.
”Quite naturally, centrally managed IT is more demanding in an international environment, and there are delays if, for example, devices need to be sent for repair. However, with remote connections we are able to speed up many activities, such as auto-installs. Our user support services are provided in Finnish, Swedish, English and Russian. Users have been extremely satisfied with the service, judging by the average grade of 9,5 in our last month's end-user surveys,” says Saurimaa.
An international company is in continuous touch with different countries. Lync instant messaging was deployed at Oras in the summer of 2011.
”Our personnel were truly excited about Lync. We didn't even have to sell it to them. As soon as the upgrade was rolled out, people happily adopted it. We are already seeing its benefits, for example travel needs have significantly reduced, which is saving us both time and money,” says Saurimaa.
