Akamai and Fujitsu expand strategic relationship to enhance efficiency, scalability, and flexibility of cloud solutions for firms across Australia and New Zealand

Sydney, March 21, 2024

SYDNEY - Akamai Technologies, Inc., (NASDAQ: AKAM), the cloud company that powers and protects life online, and Fujitsu, a leading global digital transformation company, have extended their strategic relationship that will see the benefits of Akamai Cloud Computing services reaching more organisations across Australia and New Zealand (ANZ).

The enhanced strategic relationship will see Akamai expanding its services and solutions footprint in Australia at Fujitsu’s Melbourne data centre, bolstering Akamai’s presence in the region and providing customers with greater access to more modern cloud native and affordable cloud infrastructure.

As part of the expanded suite, Fujitsu will offer Akamai’s industry leading cloud computing services and security solutions to its ANZ customers under its portfolio of hybrid multi-cloud offerings. Fujitsu will also promote Akamai’s cloud computing services across its team in ANZ, providing customers with a strong, fit-for-purpose, cloud solution with cost-effective egress savings.

Bringing innovative, cost-effective solutions to accelerate cloud adoption

Under the aegis of Akamai Connected Cloud, a widely distributed edge and cloud platform for computing, security, and content delivery, ANZ organisations will have the ability to optimise their cloud strategies even more cost effectively, a key focus for leaders in the region.

Another solution at the forefront of this collaboration is Akamai’s innovative Guardicore, an industry-leading segmentation solution that improves organisations’ cyber resilience against evolving threats in a faster, simpler, and more intuitive way.

Redefining cloud computing services through strengthened relationship

Businesses in ANZ across sectors, including retail, education, local government, manufacturing, mining, and healthcare, will now be able to confidently plan and budget with the flexibility to optimise where their data and computing resides. With Akamai’s cloud computing services, organisations can also easily optimise cloud costs and avoid bill shock with a flat, no lock-in pricing plan consistent across every data centre.

James Richmond, Regional Director, ANZ at Akamai, said, “We are strengthening and broadening the scope of our engagement with Fujitsu to assist ANZ organisations effectively use digital channels for better customer interactions. Akamai and Fujitsu are applying our combined expertise to expand our footprint in the cloud market and help organisations control spiralling costs through an open-source platform.”

Peter Grassi, VP Service Delivery, ANZ at Fujitsu, said, “One of the biggest pressures for organisations today is rising cloud costs. This synergy between Fujitsu and Akamai will deliver fantastic value to our ANZ customers by providing them with a secure, cost-effective solution.

“Combining Akamai’s expertise in cloud computing services and Fujitsu’s established leadership and network in the market, we aim to create a seamless and comprehensive cloud experience for our customers. Our expanded engagement with Akamai will allow us to accelerate this hybrid multi-cloud offering across more organisations in Australia and New Zealand, further empowering our customers to accelerate their digital transformation and optimise their investment in the cloud,” Grassi said.

Akamai and Fujitsu entered a relationship in May 2022 to assist organisations in Australia to defend against the threat of ransomware and cybersecurity attacks affecting critical infrastructure and digital assets.

The strategic relationship combines Akamai’s market-leading microsegmentation solution with Fujitsu’s leadership as a managed services provider, with extensive services portfolio across hybrid IT, data centres, cloud and cybersecurity.
