The Hospital District of Helsinki and Uusimaa (HUS) has entered in to agreement with Fujitsu Services Oy on a wide range of IT infrastructure services.
Fujitsu's Patja service will initially incorporate 12,000 workstations at Hyks hospitals in Helsinki, Peijas in Espoo, and Jorvi in Vantaa. Fujitsu's IT infrastructure support services will within a three-year period be managing the total of 14,500 HUS workstations.
The continuous 24/7 Patja service covers the availability and on-site support services as well as the monitoring and management of some 200 IT infrastructure servers which are located at Fujitsu's data centre in Helsinki. Fujitsu will also assume responsibility for the management of HUS IT environment and the coordination of IT system development projects.
The IT collaboration between HUS and Fujitsu dates as far back as 2000. In previous collaboration projects, Fujitsu has delivered HUS a message switching system, a certificate solution and the Exchange e-mail service. Fujitsu has also since long provided consultancy services to HUS in various IT projects.
"HUS selected a service supplier with the ability to provide an economically comprehensive IT on-site support, reliable server management and top-notch monitoring solutions", says IT Director Antti Larsio of HUS.
The service solution was tailored according to the specific needs and requirements of HUS
"The customer was looking for a partner who could coordinate IT collaboration between third parties, as well. HUS has several simultaneous development projects in progress all the time. The IT infrastructure supplier has to be able to co-function with the application suppliers and coordinate deployments according to best practices", says Director Leena-Mari Lähteenmaa of Fujitsu.
Fujitsu's experience of the health care industry as an IT infrastructure supplier is comprehensive and spans across several decades. Previously, five other Finnish hospital districts have outsourced their IT infrastructure to Fujitsu. Fujitsu's customers in the private health care sector include Diacor, Medivire and Oulu Deaconess Institute.
