Elisa Corporation and Fujitsu Services Oy have today signed a letter of intent of outsourcing Elisa’s desktop and data centre services to Fujitsu Finland. Under the agreement, the management and maintenance of approximately 5,500 desktops and 1,300 servers are transferred to Fujitsu.
The seven-year agreement is expected to become effective on July 1st, 2004. At the same time, approximately 100 Elisa employees will transfer to Fujitsu.
"Elisa has chosen a partner to whom the outsourced functions are a core business. This way Elisa gains quality services for the company as well as its customers. The co-operation strengthens Elisa’s operations and supports Elisa’s business objectives," said Pauli Ukkonen, Elisa’s Chief Information Officer. "The change does not have any direct impact on our customers as the services will continue as before and the contractual relationship will continue with Elisa. Customers will be assisted at the familiar customer service centres, and Elisa will continue to offer comprehensive services, with the data center services as one part."
"The agreement is built on flexibility, cost-efficiency and open collaboration. During its decade-long history, Fujitsu's operating model has grown into a well-oiled and reliable service in serving tens of thousands of users. All the employed methods, tools and metrics have been tested and proven in numerous projects for various industries and companies of all sizes", says Director Heikki Länsisyrjä of Fujitsu. "The newly signed contract will quite naturally bring these methods and metrics also to Elisa's environment, to ensure that the set goals will be achieved. With the contract, Elisa will also provide us with some useful competence and computer room facilities, which our growing core business constantly needs."
