Fujitsu Accelerates Datacenter Efficiency with New Management Software

Major upgrade to PRIMERGY ServerView suite supports latest virtualization standards

Fujitsu Asia Pte Ltd.

Singapore, November 08, 2011

Fujitsu today adds full support for the VMware vSphere® 5 cloud infrastructure platform via a major upgrade of its PRIMERGY ServerView Suite. Underlining the company’s commitment to enable the total virtualization of datacenter assets, PRIMERGY ServerView introduces extended support for the emerging Common Information Model (CIM) standard.

Ensuring that IT systems are on hand to support business operations, enhance productivity and reduce downtime, the newest release of Fujitsu’s PRIMERGY ServerView suite delivers simple, fast and cost-effective centralized management of both physical and virtual IT infrastructures.

Devised by the Distributed Management Task Force (DMTF), CIM is an open standard that allows consistent, effective management of all elements within IT architectures, working across all manufacturers and providers. Fujitsu is a member of the DMTF and first introduced ServerView support for CIM in November 2010.

Thanks to extended CIM support, PRIMERGY ServerView customers can now control certain tasks of virtualized servers operating in a CIM-based environment, such as VMware vSphere 5. Extended system monitoring, event and alarm management, power management and RAID management are among additional functionality in Fujitsu ServerView Operations Manager 5.30.

Fujitsu and VMware have a strategic and long-standing partnership, based on Fujitsu’s commitment to total virtualization - from servers to storage to networks - and to virtualization software and operation management tools. The partnership between VMware and Fujitsu delivers continuity of technology assets, more efficient resource use, and reduction in IT complexity.

Says Jens-Peter Seick, Senior Vice President, Product Development Group at Fujitsu Technology Solutions: “The power of virtualization is ensuring that businesses gain the benefits of scalable, reliable and flexible IT to support their operations. A series of major enhancements to our proven PRIMERGY ServerView suite enables the integration of virtualized solutions based on emerging CIM standards – and extends the deep Fujitsu-VMware partnership by adding support for VMWare vSphere 5.”

Gary Green, Vice President, Global Strategic Alliances, VMware says: “VMware’s portfolio of cloud infrastructure and management solutions are purpose-built for virtualization and the cloud. Together with the Fujitsu PRIMERY ServerView Suite these solutions promise to simplify the management of virtual and hybrid cloud environments, improve IT effectiveness and efficiency, and provide the visibility and control necessary to run IT like a business.”

The PRIMERGY ServerView Suite ships globally with every new PRIMERGY server. Version 5.30 of ServerView Operations Manager can also be downloaded free of charge from http://ts.fujitsu.com/support/downloads.html – with installation taking less than 30 minutes. Customers can also download free evaluation copies of VMware software at http://downloads.vmware.com/
