Matsushita Communication Industrial Corporation of the Philippines
FPI supports Matsushita's ERP implementation

Matsushita Communication Industrial Corporation of the Philippines (MCP), now Panasonic Mobile Communications Corporation of the Philippines, is engaged in the manufacture of cellular phones, diskette drives, microphone condensers, closed circuit video equipment and memory chips. The company represents the National/Panasonic brand name with product exports all over the world.
The Matsushita mother unit, MCI based in Japan, had a direction to standardize the operations of all its overseas companies through the implementation of information technology, specifically an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution.
In this endeavor, the company decided to use Glovia, an ERP solution that addresses the needs of the discrete manufacturing market, developed by Glovia International, a wholly-owned manufacturing and ERP solutions subsidiary of Fujitsu Limited. The first thrust was to establish a common product control system for all Matsushita companies worldwide, thus leading towards the definition of their global standards in so far as production planning, production, and inventory control systems are concerned.
The requirement led to a partnership with Glovia International to develop a new Glovia version specifically to answer these global standards. The first phase of the implementation was focused on the cellular phone business of the Overseas Mobile Telephone Division (OMTD). This also led to the development of specific add-on functions, which were done by Fujitsu Japan.
The Overseas Mobile Telephone Division (OMTD) of Matsushita Philippines (MCP) was the first target for overseas implementation. Since Fujitsu Philippines, Inc. through its manufacturing software subsidiary, UniServ Systems International, Inc., was the local implementation support group of Glovia and FPI being the affiliate company of Fujitsu Japan in the Philippines, FPI was requested to support the project.
MCI's global implementation team was responsible in setting the general direction of the project with FPI as its local counterpart. The project was successfully completed in 4.5 months and with the outstanding performance of the FPI team in this activity, MCI decided to partner with the company not only for the next local implementations but also for all other Matsushita implementations around the globe.
Likewise, having recognized FPI's competence, Fujitsu Japan also decided to get the company's support for the add-on development to cater to Matsushita's sales and accounting global standards. With the great success of Glovia in OMTD, aside from the planned second phase implementation that will cover sales and accounting operations, MCP plans to implement ahead a company-wide Glovia system. The system will cover not only OMTD but other divisions as well, making Glovia MCP's main system to handle its consolidated division operations.
