Micro CADAM Helix

MC Helix offers an upward migration path to users of more limited systems and a complementary product to users of more expensive and more difficult to use high end systems.

Helix Modeling

Helix Modeling is a productive, easy to use surface and solid modeler based upon DESIGNBASE modeling kernel from Ricoh and Constraint Manager from D-Cubed Ltd. This dimension-driven capability allows the designer to sketch in basic shapes and have the system regularize the shape.

Helix Modeling incorporates an extensive suite of geometric editing tools to enable designers and engineers to do all of the following:

  • Create and modify models of parts and assemblies.
  • Investigate conceptual design.
  • Determine interferences and clearances.
  • Calculate mass properties.
  • Apply engineering change orders.
  • Perform sheet metal development : flat pattern, flatwrap, and re-bend.
  • Do kinematic analysis (path tracing).
  • Produce the needed documentation and engineering drawings.

The 3D model is bi-directionally associated with a 2D layout. Changes made to the model are instantly reflected in the layout and vice versa. The system automatically generates multiview layouts according to a user specified template. The user can interactively add, delete, move and rescale views within a layout. The user can also specify the appearance, e.g type of hidden line removal, in the final drop-off to Helix Drafting where a complete engineering drawing is generated.

Helix Parametric Drafting

Helix Parametric Drafting is composed of four integrated modules : Helix Drafting, Helix Parts, Helix Parametrics and Helix 2D IGES

Helix Drafting is a highly productive, function-laden CAD system that is being successfully used in the aerospace, automative, heavy machinery, and consumer product industries around the globe. The package is ideal for demanding professional mechanical designers, drafters and engineers. The Windows GUI features dynamic highlighting, intelligent snapping, MDI, user-configurable iconic toolbars and an Explorer like History tree.

Helix Parametric Drafting

Helix Parametrics module enables users to assign and edit both geometric and dimensional constraints. The effects of changes in the values of parameters are propagated quickly and automatically throughout a model. This powerful capability is very useful for family-of parts applications, for investigating design alternatives, and for applying engineering change orders.

Helix Parts module enables users to model part-assembly hierarchies even in 21/2 D. The module supports the creation and management of standard parts libraries.

Using Overlays, users can logically partition their models into as many as 200 layers or members. Details are collection of geometric and annotation entities which can be instanced or dittoed into the drawing any number of times. A symbol behaves, much like a detail except it is stored separately from the models in which it is referenced.

    MC Helix supports the leading standards for data exchange including DXF, DWG, IGES, STEP, CGM, VRML and STL, GERBER, HP-GL.
  • Web Publishing
    Customers can use the Internet and corporate Intranets to share data and promote collaborative engineering via electronic publishing.
  • Raster
    MC Helix supports the import, plotting and export of a wide range of raster data formats. Optional modules offer advanced raster editing capabilities such as intelligent object picking, raster-to-vector conversion, and intelligent character recognition.
