Fujitsu Donates LIFEBOOK Notebooks to Help in Alabama's Recovery Effort

LIFEBOOK Notebooks Deployed in Five Counties Help to Rebuild Infrastructure

SUNNYVALE, CA -- (Marketwire), July 01, 2011

Fujitsu today announced that it has partnered with the Clanton Police Department to assist in the recovery of tornado-stricken Alabama by donating LIFEBOOK® notebooks for use by state and local emergency service agencies. The LIFEBOOK notebooks, distributed to six counties throughout the state, are being deployed in a variety of ways, including helping relief centers and shelters manage assets and fill out insurance claims. A police department, completely wiped out by the tornadoes, is using their LIFEBOOK notebooks to conduct normal operating procedures.

"There was an outpouring of support with clothes, food and water. However, after immediate needs were met, we needed to begin to rebuild the infrastructure that was devastated by the tornado," said Sgt. Neil Fetner, information technology officer, Clanton Police Department. "Fujitsu responded to our request in just two days. When we delivered computers, it was really gratifying to see the relief on people's faces and we were glad to help them."

The LIFEBOOK notebooks were distributed to the Calhoun, Cherokee, Dekalb, St. Clair, Marion, and Marshall counties Emergency Management offices and to the Cordova, Hackleburg and Jacksonville State University Police Departments. Fujitsu reseller partner Pinnacle Networx assisted in the delivery and system setup.

"Fujitsu hopes that its donation of LIFEBOOK PCs is instrumental in assisting Alabama's rebuilding efforts," said Kevin Wrenn, senior vice president, PC Business, Fujitsu America. "With notebooks in place, Alabama can more quickly manage and execute tasks critical to helping the impacted communities and citizens throughout the state."
