Board Position Underscores Carrier Ethernet Industry Leadership for Fujitsu

Fujitsu Network Communications Inc.

Richardson, TX, September 29, 2009

Fujitsu, a leading provider of business, information technology, and communications solutions, announced today that Ralph Santitoro, Carrier Ethernet Market Development Director at Fujitsu Network Communications, has been re-elected to the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) Board of Directors. Santitoro has been a founding member, major contributor and thought leader in the MEF since its inception in 2001. He also authored the MEF’s primer and most popular paper on Ethernet services with over 100,000 copies downloaded and co-authored the MEF’s paper on Carrier Ethernet security.

“It’s an honor to be part of an organization that has made such an impact in the global standardization and adoption of Carrier Ethernet networks and services,” said Santitoro. “The MEF continues to be at the forefront of driving Ethernet service awareness and market adoption. This board role allows me to continue to guide the organization’s strategic direction to advance the Carrier Ethernet industry and key applications ideally suited for the technology, such as mobile backhaul networks.”

In addition to his board position, Santitoro co-chairs the MEF’s Security Working Group, and contributes to the MEF’s Mobile Backhaul, Carrier Ethernet Security, and Global Interconnect Working Groups, with the latter defining requirements for wholesale Ethernet access providers to standardize Ethernet service provider peering agreements.

“As one of the industry’s leading providers of Carrier Ethernet networking equipment, management software and professional service solutions, we are delighted with Ralph’s re-election to the MEF board,” said Doug Moore, senior vice president of sales, marketing and services at Fujitsu Network Communications. “Ralph’s longstanding leadership role in the MEF exemplifies our commitment to connection-oriented Ethernet solutions for mobile backhaul, packet optical network convergence, and Ethernet service delivery over any type of access network (EoX).”

Santitoro is responsible for strategic marketing and application development for connection-oriented Ethernet solutions in packet optical networks. He is a widely-published author on Ethernet technology, and frequent speaker at industry events on Ethernet services, wholesale interconnect/ENNI, Ethernet access, Ethernet OAM, Carrier Ethernet security and Ethernet for wireless backhaul networks. For over 25 years he has developed innovative telecom, computing and information security products and services for enterprises, SMBs, communications service providers and consumer markets. Ralph holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ.
