London, November 01, 2017

Fujitsu today announces a new generation of FUTRO Thin Client devices, optimised for wide-scale enterprise deployments and providing enhancements in terms of flexibility, performance and security. Four new models include the Fujitsu Thin Client FUTRO Q940 PalmSecure Appliance, the first to integrate Fujitsu’s palm vein biometric security technology. New models are available with eLux and Scout Enterprise Management Suite as well as Windows 10 IoT Enterprise.

Ruediger Landto, ‎Head of Category Management for Client Computing Devices at Fujitsu EMEIA, says: “Thin clients are excellent for computing environments where there is a high degree of centralisation, such as government, banking, insurance, and call centers. The all-new FUTRO range is both smaller and more powerful than ever, and delivers significant advances in terms of security and multimedia capabilities. In terms of performance, most users will never even notice they’re not using a fully-featured PC.”

Powerful and secure thin client computing

The FUTRO Q940 is the first Fujitsu thin client with integrated PalmSecure technology, which detects palm vein patterns – a technology that is more accurate than other mainstream biometric technologies. PalmSecure adds an extra layer of security to help safeguard valuable, confidential and critical data. To authenticate with PalmSecure, registered users simply hover their hand over the contactless sensor. As well as use in Single Sign-On (SSO) environments, PalmSecure can provide additional user verification for sensitive data or enterprise applications.

Also new to the FUTRO line-up are the ultra-compact FUTRO S540 and S740 models, with a housing of just 0.87 liters, and the FUTRO S940, the first Fujitsu FUTRO Thin Client to include a built-in power supply as well as Power over Ethernet (PoE) option, both of which help contribute to a clutter-free desk. The highly versatile FUTRO S940 comes additionally with USB Type-C, providing high-speed USB connection and optionally a graphics card allowing multi-monitoring setups that help enhance productivity.

All four new FUTRO models address the growing widespread adoption of multimedia communications tools and collaboration, through providing enhanced processing power and performance. They include upgraded multimedia capabilities to deliver immersive support for Unified Communications applications like Skype for Business for the Windows 10 Enterprise IoT edition, as well as Cisco VXME and Avaya for eLux, ensuring enhanced collaboration through reliable videoconferencing and screen sharing for geographically-dispersed teams.

In the field, FUTRO devices are proven to be long-lasting performers. Thin clients have no moving parts or fans, require less energy, generate less heat than desktop PCs, and are totally silent in operation. All models also come with the eLux® RP 6 operating system and Scout Enterprise Management Suite® 15 from Unicon.
