Richardson, TX, October 6, 2005 — Fujitsu Network Communications Inc., a leading supplier of IT and wireline/wireless networking solutions and a sponsor of the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) Commercial Services Symposium 2005, will discuss how the IEEE 802.16 standard for Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) is enabling new commercial services for small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs).
Randy Eisenach, senior market development manager for Fujitsu Network Communications, will present the current state of WiMAX technology and standards, including specific applications for providing commercial services, cellular tower backhaul applications and ways WiMAX can serve as a premium extension to cable modem service. This panel session will also describe the new service opportunities that WiMAX will enable and discuss traditional commercial services such as high speed data and voice. WiMAX will not only provide new services to subscribers, it can also help cable operators launch their own wireless service as an extension of their wireline cable network.
