The Fujitsu PalmSecure™ PC Log-In Kit Provides Secure and Efficient Authentication for Healthcare Organizations
Sunnyvale, CA, February 21, 2008 — With the passage of the HIPPA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), hospitals and other medical organizations are required to use two or more forms of authentication in order to access electronic medical records of patients. Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc., a leading supplier of innovative biometric security solutions, today announced the demonstration of the new PalmSecure™ PC Log-In Kit at the Health Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Conference, Feb. 24-28 in Orlando, FL. The PalmSecure PC Log-In Kit provides a fast and secure way to access highly sensitive patient information for healthcare professionals.
The PC Log-In Kit is composed of the award-winning PalmSecure authentication sensor embedded into a PC mouse which captures an image of the user’s palm vein, and OmniPass™ Windows Log-in and Single Sign-On software which eliminates tedious password entry for Windows sessions and password protected applications. PalmSecure generates a unique biometric template that is matched against pre-registered users’ palm vein patterns. It is more reliable and easier to use than alternative biometric devices, enabling access to PCs and patient records at medical facilities to become more secure, accurate and efficient. An advanced authentication algorithm producing a high level of accuracy, and a powerful log-in management software featuring an easy and intuitive graphical user interface, makes the PalmSecure PC Log-In Kit an ideal solution for healthcare organizations in the area of identity management.
