Fujitsu Announces Fully Manual and Deployable Mag EraSURE® P3M Degausser for High Security Data Disposal

Latest Product in the Fujitsu Family of Degaussers to Debut at RSA 2007

Sunnyvale, CA, February 5, 2007 — Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc., one of the world’s leading suppliers of innovative computer products including hard disk drives, peripherals and biometric security solutions, today announced its new Mag EraSURE® P3M degausser. The latest offering in the degausser family, the small form factor Fujitsu Mag EraSURE P3M device can be deployed on a rack mount or table top, and is a viable solution for industries and government agencies that require fast and secure removal of magnetically recorded data from hard disk drives (HDDs), removable disks and backup tapes in environments where electricity may be inaccessible.

The Fujitsu Mag EraSURE family of products utilizes patented rare earth magnet technology to permanently degauss magnetically recorded information. The P3M product ensures complete erasure of all data, including servo and calibration data, leaving no recoverable trace or residue. With its fully manual, single pass operation and speedy erasure cycle time, the device is ideal for quick and secure degaussing of hard disk drives, backup tapes and other magnetic media containing confidential or highly sensitive information.

The Fujitsu Mag EraSURE P3M degausser includes the following specifications and features:

• Meets Department of Defense requirements for degaussing all magnetically recorded data on HDDs (up to 5300 Oe for longitudinal recording and up to 5000 Oe for perpendicular recording)
• Full manual operation (no power required)
• Utilizes patented rare earth-permanent magnets for long life
• Cycle times as quick as 10 seconds
• Install on table top or 19" rack mount
• Operates continuously without degradation

The Mag EraSURE P3M device is the newest product in the Fujitsu family of degaussers. Its sister products, the Mag EraSURE P2V degausser for commercial applications and the Mag EraSURE P3E degausser for high security applications, were introduced in early 2006. With over thirty-five years of experience in hard disk drive manufacturing, Fujitsu has the unique knowledge and expertise to deliver best-in-class, high-performance commercial degaussers.

Pricing and Availability

The Mag EraSURE P3M device is priced at $46,900 (U.S. List). It will be available through Fujitsu government distributor (GSA contract) Security Engineered Machinery (www.fedshred.com), as well through Fujitsu commercial distributors Avnet Technology Solutions (www.ats.avnet.com) and Bell Microproducts, Inc. (www.bellmicro.com).
