Fujitsu Continues Quarterly Growth in Enterprise & Mobile Hard Disk Drive Markets During the Second Quarter of 2005

Technical Innovation, Strong Customer Relationships & Exceptional Reliability Lead to Another Quarter of Growth

Sunnyvale, CA, August 24, 2005 — Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc., one of the world’s leading suppliers of hard disk drives and computer peripherals, today is proud to announce its hard disk drive (HDD) shipment growth for the second calendar quarter of 2005. During the period ending June 30, Fujitsu increased its mobile hard disk drive sales for the twelfth consecutive quarter and sustained its position as the second largest supplier of 2.5" mobile hard disk drives. During the quarter Fujitsu shipped 4.45M mobile units, a 71% increase over the same quarter last year (Q2CY04). Fujitsu also maintained its position as the second largest supplier in the enterprise hard disk drive market, increasing shipments to 1.54M units, a 28% increase as compared to the same quarter last year.

The quarter over quarter growth by Fujitsu is a result of its ongoing commitment to improve manufacturing execution while maintaining industry-leading quality. In the enterprise sector, Fujitsu continued to work with its partners to further integrate its latest enterprise 300GB 10K and 147GB 15K hard disk drive families into next generation storage solutions. In the mobile sector, Fujitsu significantly expanded its sales into the top original equipment manufacturer (OEM) products through the continued delivery of high quality, reliable hard disk drives.

In the second quarter, Fujitsu advanced the adoption of Serial technology in both the mobile and enterprise markets with its 2.5" Serial ATA (SATA) and Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) hard disk drives. In April, Fujitsu set the market standard for Serial ATA technology with volume shipment of the industry's first and only SATA hard disk drives, followed by the introduction of its next generation 100GB SATA hard disk drives. On the enterprise front, Fujitsu also beat out competitors with volume delivery of its 2.5" and 3.5" SAS hard disk drives to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and channel partners.
