Fujitsu Adds Standard, 4.3-inch High-Transparency Touch Panel for Sharp and NEC LCDs
Sunnyvale, CA, March 19, 2007 — Fujitsu Components America, Inc. today expanded its resistive touch-panel offering with the introduction of a 4.3-inch (diagonal) film-glass panel with superior performance in both finger and stylus-based applications. It is part of Fujitsu’s commitment to offer OEMs competitively-priced, standard-product touch panels with higher performance specifications.
The new, 4-wire touch panel fits Sharp and NEC 4.3-inch LCDs commonly used in handheld applications, including popular game devices, and fixed applications suitable for small LCD screens. Featuring 86 percent transmissivity for improved viewing in high ambient light conditions, the design incorporates a double-layer PET film with 5 percent haze Anti-Glare Hardcoat, increasing durability for both finger and stylus input modes. Fujitsu’s proprietary Anti-Smudge feature resists fingerprint adherence, providing enhanced cosmetic appearance.
Consumer and industrial handheld devices with touch capability are two of the fastest growing application areas, according to Bruce DeVisser, Fujitsu’s product marketing manager for input devices. “This market segment is very demanding in terms of user durability and image viewability,” DeVisser said, “which is why we are constantly developing cost-efficient ways to improve impact resistance and image quality.”
Available immediately from stock, Fujitsu’s 4.3-inch (part number: N010-0554-T241) touch panel comes with a 75mm flex connector tail. It has a suggested resale price of $11.50 each in 1,000-piece quantities.
