Dr. Hideyuki Saso is President and Representative Director of Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd. based in Japan. The Fujitsu Laboratories Group is the key R&D pillar of the Fujitsu Group, with R&D sites in Japan,China, the U.S. and the U.K. Dr. Saso was appointed President and Representative Director of Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd. in April 2014, after an extensive and illustrious career at Fujitsu Limited spanning nearly four decades, in which he held various corporate senior executive management positions as Member of the Board and prior head of several key Computing and Mobile Phone-related business groups and Marketing, including serving as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) while he was a Corporate Senior Executive Vice President and Representative Director of Fujitsu Limited. Dr. Saso’s additional previous appointments while at Fujitsu include former head of the Next-Generation Technical Computing Unit―which was responsible for Fujitsu’s K supercomputer development and business at the time―as well as former head of Fujitsu’s Business Groups for Ubiquitous Products, System Products, and Platform Solutions, and former head of the Mobile Phones unit.

Dr. Saso received his Doctor of Engineering (Ph.D.) in 2011 and Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Engineering in 1976, both from the Tokyo Institute of Technology.

He joined Fujitsu Limited in 1976 and started out developing computers, followed by approximately 5 years in the U.S. to conduct UNIX servers-related research, while later during the course of his career at Fujitsu he held numerous corporate senior executive management positions in Marketing, Computing, Mobile Phones, and Ubiquitous/System Products Business Groups. In 2007 he was appointed Corporate Vice President and concurrently President of the Mobile Phones Unit. In 2009 he became Corporate Senior Vice President and concurrently President of the Ubiquitous Products Business Group. In early 2010, he concurrently became President of the Systems Products Business Group and Executive Vice President of the Platform Solution Business Group, followed by his promotion in mid-2010 to Corporate Senior Executive Vice President with principal responsibility for Fujitsu’s Products Business, and concurrently was in charge of the Quality Assurance Unit of the Next-Generation Technical Computing Unit. In 2012, while continuing to be a Corporate Senior Executive Vice President and Representative Director, he was appointed President of Marketing, concurrently in charge of the Next-Generation Technical Computing Unit, followed by his additional appointments in 2013 as CTO and CMO of Fujitsu.

Dr. Saso was appointed President and Representative Director of Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd. in April 2014.
