Fujitsu to Contribute to Customers and Society through New Environmental Action Plan

Announcing the Fujitsu Group Environmental Action Plan, Stage VII

Fujitsu Limited

Tokyo, April 11, 2013

Fujitsu today announced the Fujitsu Group Environmental Action Plan, Stage VII, which sets new environmental goals for fiscal 2013 through fiscal 2015 (April 1, 2013 – March 31, 2016).

Under the plan, the Fujitsu Group seeks to expand its contribution to addressing environmental challenges for both customers and society by further promoting the deployment of ICT throughout society as a whole. The plan aims to leverage services and solutions to cut greenhouse gas emissions for customers and society by a total of over 26 million tons, to ensure that more than 50% of all newly developed products enable the highest levels of energy efficiency, and to increase resource efficiency by 20% compared to fiscal 2011. In addition, by continuing to emphasize environmental awareness in its own business activities while further conserving energy at production plants and offices and improving the environmental performance of its datacenters, the Fujitsu Group will aim to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 20% compared to fiscal 1990, which will also result in lower costs.

In taking a leadership role in actively pursuing these goals across its entire global value chain with customers, partners and suppliers, the Fujitsu Group strives to shape a sustainable, prosperous society, which is at the heart of the company's corporate philosophy.

The world faces many challenges relating to population growth. These include the supply of energy, other resources and food, as well as climate change, the increasing frequency of natural disasters, and loss of biodiversity. Society expects businesses to proactively take actions to address these challenges.

The Corporate Value in the FUJITSU Way articulates the company's approach to the environment: "In all our actions, we protect the environment and contribute to society." Fujitsu considers that contribution to sustainability to be one of its social responsibilities. Meanwhile, ICT has the power to respond not only to global environmental issues, but also to many other social issues. The Fujitsu Group believes ICT has a major role to play in helping society address these challenges.

The Fujitsu Group established its first Environmental Protection Program in 1993, and since then has worked to continuously reduce its burden on the environment. In Stage VI of the program, which ran from fiscal 2010 to fiscal 2012, the Group successfully met all of its targets, including a cumulative reduction of more than 15 million tons of CO2 emitted by customers and society, through the provision of green ICT, and Fujitsu business sites reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 6% compared to 1990 levels.

In light of the above considerations and track record, the Company has set forth the Fujitsu Group Environmental Action Plan, Stage VII.
