Fujitsu Introduces ARROWS Z ISW11F au Smartphone
High-spec water-resistant WiMAX smartphone, pushing speed and design to the limits
Tokyo, December 14, 2011 — Fujitsu today announced that the new ARROWS Z ISW11F smartphone from Fujitsu Toshiba Mobile Communications will be available in Japan beginning December 17, 2011, from KDDI Corporation and Okinawa Cellular Telephone Company.
To deliver unprecedented speed of operations, ARROWS Z ISW11F combines three high-speed enhancements—high-speed WiMAX communications, a high-performance 1.2GHz dual-core CPU, and a quick-response touchscreen. In addition to its 4.3-inch HD display that supports a full spectrum of 16.77 million colors, Fujitsu's proprietary high-definition technology offers users a chance to appreciate the breathtaking beauty of Hi-Vision video content.
As a flagship model of Fujitsu's smartphone lineup, ISW11F is packed with advanced features that push the limits of speed and design, including a high-performance 13.1 megapixel camera—among the top of its class of smartphones—and DTCP-IP-compatible DLNA connectivity.
Background
Amid an expanding smartphone market, there has been widespread attention regarding the increased need for handling rich content, such as large-screen data-intensive video content, as well as support for high-speed communications services that can be used to easily download content and applications.
ARROWS Z ISW11F runs on the next-generation WiMAX high-speed communications network, thereby allowing users to download videos and other data-intensive content at unmatched speeds. Moreover, with the handset's high-performance 1.2GHz dual-core CPU and quick-response touchscreen, users can enjoy video playback, web browsing, and mobile applications with world-class speed.
With Fujitsu's "mobile texture realizer" and super-resolution technology, users can enjoy viewing high-resolution video on a 4.3-inch HD display with support for 16.77 million colors. By taking advantage of the smartphone's DTCP-IP-compatible DLNA connectivity, users can view Hi-Vision streaming video of terrestrial digital broadcasts recorded by a media recorders from even anywhere in the home.
In addition to standard features such as water- (IPX5/8) and dust-resistant (IP5X) technology(1), one-segment broadcast reception, Osaifu-Keitai®, infrared communications, and Wi-Fi tethering, ISW11F brings together a high-performance and highly-sensitive 13.1 megapixel camera that supports Full Hi-Vision video recording, as well as Fujitsu's "human-centric engine." As a result, the handset offers both intuitive usability and high-spec capabilities.
ARROWS Z ISW11F is available in four colors: FINE WHITE, STREAM BLUE, LIVE PINK, and NEO BLACK.

1. Three high-speed enhancements
- WiMAX: Connecting to the Internet at next-generation speeds
ISW11F runs on the high-speed WiMAX network, which delivers downstream speeds of up to 40Mbps and upstream speeds of up to 10Mbps(2). This enables users to download data-intensive content and enjoy browsing the web at breathtaking speeds. - High-performance 1.2GHz dual-core CPU: All-around speed boost
The smartphone's CPU boosts the speed of all operations, including high-resolution video playback, games, web browsing, and application multitasking. - Quick-response touchscreen: High-speed touch operations
The quick-response touchscreen enables smooth operations as if the screen were moving in immediate response to the movement of the user's finger. With a special surface processing, called Super Glide Coating, users can control the smartphone with even greater fluidity.
2. Full color HD display

The smartphone comes with an ultra high-definition display with 720 × 1,280 pixels. It supports a full spectrum of 16.77 million colors, beautifully and realistically displaying even subtle gradations and complex shadows. - Latest technology for enhancing image quality
The smartphone supports the new "mobile texture realizer" technology. Based on the user's viewing environment, this technology automatically adjusts the darkest and brightest portions of a video to give it a sense of depth. It also features super-resolution technology, which processes complicated images in real-time to restore the original image quality. It recreates the image's sense of detail and immediacy for beautiful video images, extending even to the contours of details.

By connecting an HDMI cable(3) to a full HD TV monitor, users can view still photos and videos in high resolution. - DLNA® compatible (DTCP-IP enabled)
With a pre-installed DiXiM Home Network Application, terrestrial digital broadcast programs recorded using a DLNA-compatible Blu-ray recorder can be viewed streaming in Hi-Vision. - Pre-installed with TSUTAYA TV video on-demand service application
The smartphone comes pre-installed with a TSUTAYA TV application, which features an abundant collection of movie and TV drama titles. High-speed downloads enable users to enjoy movies and TV dramas in high resolution during moments of free time.
4. Highly-sensitive and high-performance 13.1 megapixel camera
In addition to being equipped with an Exmor R for Mobile back-illuminated CMOS sensor and the high-resolution Milbeaut Mobile(4) image processing engine, ISW11F's ISO 25600 equivalent high-sensitivity enables bright photographs to be captured even in dark places. The handset also comes with a diversity of photography features, including chrome key mode, "art camera" mode, and automatic scene recognition.
5. Human-centric engine enables intuitive usability
The smartphone supports Fujitsu's audio technologies, including "Super HAKKIRI VOICE (super-clear voice) 3," which adjusts the volume of the other caller's voice to make it easier to hear in a crowded environment; "Super-Double Microphone," which suppresses background noise to ensure that the caller's voice is transmitted clearly; "PITTARI VOICE (exact voice)," which makes the handset easier to hear when walking or running; "AWASERU VOICE 2," which corrects the audio based on hearing related to age; and "YUKKURI VOICE," which slows down the speed of the caller's speech.
Through the handset's hand-written input functionality, which leverages an advanced handwriting recognition engine, users can intuitively input characters without having to switch between keyboard input modes for numbers and symbols. Furthermore, ISW11F is equipped with uniquely-developed Fujitsu applications, such as an alarm clock system that monitors and analyzes the user's sleeping condition for the best wake-up call time, as well as a 3D motion-sensor technology to diagnose the user's body posture.
6. Convenience-oriented features
The smartphone offers support for the Fujitsu Mobile Integrated Dictionary+, which provides access to 29 different full-featured dictionaries. It also features an Ultra Integrated Search Engine that can directly search among multiple search result sites that are displayed when a keyword is entered into a search widget.

- 1 Water-resistant (IPX5/8) and dust-resistant (IP5X) technology:
- The IPX5 designation indicates that the mobile phone can normally function after being sprayed with water from a nozzle with a diameter of 6.3 mm at a rate of 12.5 liters per minute from a distance of approximately 3m for a period of at least 3 minutes. The IPX8 designation indicates that the smartphone normally functions after being immersed in room-temperature tap water to a depth of 1.5 m for 30 minutes.
The IP5X rating indicates, as a degree of protection, that the mobile phone can be left in an environment with dust particles with a diameter of 75 µm and still function and remain safe to use. Please do not leave the device on the sand. - 2 Downstream speeds of up to 40Mbps and upstream speeds of up to 10Mbps:
- In WIN HIGH SPEED au service areas outside of WiMAX areas, the phone will employ CDMA communications capable of maximum 9.2Mbps downlink (5.5Mbps uplink) speeds. The service employs the best-effort delivery method. Listed speeds are the maximum speeds attainable using the technical standard and do not reflect actual usage speeds. Speeds may significantly decrease depending on the communications environment, network traffic, and other factors.
