Fujitsu Releases Solution for Consolidating Internal Data for Independent Administrative Institutions

"IPKNOWLEDGE" integrates accounting, HR, payroll, general affairs, and document management systems enabling improved operational efficiency

Fujitsu Limited

Tokyo, August 31, 2011

Fujitsu today announced the release of a new edition of its "IPKNOWLEDGE" internal information consolidation solution for public organizations, which boasts a deployment track record of over 1,000 systems that has been expanded and enhanced for use by independent administrative institutions(1) in Japan.

The new solution centrally manages a wide range of information associated with the internal operations of independent administrative institutions, including information relevant to accounting, HR, payroll, general affairs, document management, and travel expenses management. In addition to facilitating the coordination of different tasks during times of personnel change, structural reform, budget management, and system reform, the solution also offers an electronic authorization feature that enables all tasks to be authorized from a single screen, thereby enabling improved operational efficiency. In addition, all tasks feature a common easy-to-use interface design, making operations uniform and effortless.

With the new solution, institutions are able to consolidate expenses related to hardware, software, operations and maintenance, and as a result, reduce costs by approximately 30% in comparison to deploying individual systems for each task.

Starting in October 2011, Fujitsu also plans to launch the "IPKNOWLEDGE Independent Administrative Institution Accounting System". This new accounting system has been developed as part of the new solution to handle accounting tasks.

Background

Since the late 1990s, the number of independent administrative institutions has increased each year in Japan. There are approximately 300 organizations currently in existence throughout the country. Although there continues to be progress in developing systems to handle individual tasks including accounting, HR, payroll, and general affairs, it has become a challenge to coordinate between different tasks as information had not been centrally managed. In addition, as systems are deployed, operated, and maintained separately, institutions end up incurring significant costs.

With these circumstances in mind, Fujitsu has released a solution for independent administrative institutions based on the know-how from its IPKNOWLEDGE internal information consolidation solution, which is already available for public organizations.

Product Features

1. Industry's first internal information consolidation solution for independent administrative institutions

The systems offered in the new solution centrally manage a wide range of information associated with the internal operations of independent administrative institutions, including information relevant to accounting, HR, payroll, general affairs, document management, and travel expenses management. By facilitating the coordination of different tasks during times of personnel change, structural reform, budget management, and system reform, the solution enables improved operational efficiency.

2. Electronic authorization enables all tasks to be authorized from a single screen

The solution includes an electronic authorization feature that makes it possible to perform authorizations related to all tasks from a single screen. As all tasks that require authorization can be immediately processed at once, the solution enables streamlined operations.

3. Easy-to-use common interface design for all tasks

All tasks feature a common easy-to-use interface design, making operations uniform and effortless. In addition, items displayed on the screen can be exported to spreadsheet software or a CSV file, thereby further enhancing the system's usability.
