Fujitsu Opens "BooksV" Online e-Book Store

Fujitsu today announced the opening of BooksV, an online e-book service that offers a wide selection of digital content useful for both business and personal lifestyles. With over 300,000 titles from which to choose, making it Japan's largest online e-book store(1), customers can find the information they seek quickly. Moreover, compatibility with a variety of platforms, including PCs, smartphones, and tablets, means users are free to enjoy reading their digital content whenever and wherever they find most suitable.

To commemorate the opening of this online service, Fujitsu is launching a BooksV opening sales campaign in which 20 e-book manuals, such as practical guides to PC operations and study guides for certification exams, available from the publication unit of Fujitsu FOM Limited will be offered free of charge starting today until July 10, 2011.

Features and Applications

1. Japan's Largest Selection of Digital Content

BooksV acquires contents based on a partnership with MobileBooks.jp, Inc., an affiliate of Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. (DNP), as well as from Fujitsu Group companies G Search Limited and the publication unit of Fujitsu FOM Limited. This allows it to offer a rich variety of digital contents across a wide range of genres, from literature to lifestyle and how-to publications.

Business and the economy, lifestyle and health, literature and critiques, practical guides, sports and hobbies, etc. Weekly Diamond, Weekly Toyo Keizai, Economist (from Mainichi Newspaper Co.), Nikkei Business, Nikkei Computer, etc.

2. Useful Information Immediately at the Tips of Your Fingers

Users can quickly find the book they want to read, whether it is for personal enjoyment or for their job when they are on a business call. Digital content purchased on a home PC can be viewed on the go via a smartphone so that users can enjoy reading in the way that best suits their lifestyle.

Immediate access to preferred content only
Whether it is from business magazines, such as Weekly Diamond, Weekly Toyo Keizai, or Nikkei Weekly, or from market or research reports, users are able to purchase just the articles or chapters they want, whether they are business people seeking to enhance their skills or just need to compile materials.

3. Compatible with a Variety of Platforms

Users can view their e-book contents on a variety of platforms, including PCs running Windows 7, Vista, or the XP operating systems, as well as Android(2) OS-enabled smartphones and tablets.

4. Getting Started is Quick and Easy

Registered members of Azby Club, Fujitsu's PC user group, who have an Azby Club user name, or people who have an @nifty ID or @nifty user name issued by Nifty Corporation can easily register with BooksV and quickly start using the service.

In addition, all of the summer 2011 models of Fujitsu's FMV series of PCs for consumers come with a pre-installed desktop icon that links to the BooksV website.
