Fujitsu Limited

Tokyo, November 16, 2010

Fujitsu today announced that its new docomo PRIME series F-01C mobile phone will be available in Japan from NTT DOCOMO, Inc. beginning November 19, 2010.

The F-01C is a 13.9mm thick, high-spec waterproof mobile phone that is equipped with a quick-response touchscreen display featuring vastly improved response time and tracking, enabling users to comfortably navigate menus and enjoy the mobile phone's full-featured browser by using touch commands.

After conducting a comprehensive customer satisfaction survey of docomo PRIME series users, Fujitsu has focused on further improving the responsiveness and tracking of the series' touchscreen displays. The F-01C dramatically improves the performance of the touchscreen, making it possible for users to seamlessly and effortlessly navigate menus, view captured photos, and operate the mobile phone's full-featured browser. As well, the F-01C carries a wide range of features, such as touchscreen writing technology, which allows users to write difficult-to-read kanji characters simply by using their fingers directly on the screen.

To make the most of its 13.2 megapixel camera, the new mobile phone is equipped with the Exmor® for mobile CMOS sensor and the Milbeaut® Mobile(1) image-processing engine for digital cameras. The F-01C also comes loaded with a variety of features that enable users to shoot high-definition footage. For still photography, features include a variety of new functions including quick shot, unlimited sequence photography, and blurred background modes that rival those of digital cameras. For video recording, the mobile phone is equipped with features such as Live Sound Full-HD & Zoom Mic, which enables users to further enjoy recording Full High-Definition video footage and HDMI output.

In terms of the F-01C's human-centric capabilities, it is equipped with a wide-range of advanced features to support users in their daily lives. These include an augmented reality-enabled location radar which displays information about restaurants and other retail establishments when the user simply points the mobile phone at them, a function that automatically recognizes the user's surrounding environment and switches the mobile phone settings to manner mode and automatic message reply accordingly, and a walking and running application featuring tips and advice from former marathon runner and Olympic gold medalist, Naoko Takahashi.

  • Blurred background mode
Like an SLR camera, users can take photographs that increase the blurriness of the background behind the subject, enhancing the subject of the photo.
  • Free-angle LCD
The mobile phone's screen can be rotated 270º. Users can take photographs from high or low angles.
  • Decorative effects
Using the Tegaki Snap® feature, users can add handwritten comments or Deco-mail Pictograms® to stored photographs.

The mobile phone is equipped with a super surround sound microphone that can record high-quality stereo audio at 48kHz sampling, surpassing CD-quality. Furthermore, the Zoom Mic amplifies the audio signal depending on the camera zoom, making it possible to clearly record distant sounds.

5. Wi-Fi® compatibility(8) enables Wi-Fi® devices to simply connect to a network

  • Wireless LAN printing
Users can wirelessly print captured photos using wireless LAN-compatible printers made by Canon and Epson. Users can also print addresses retrieved from the mobile phone's address book, enabling the creation of photograph-enhanced New Year's greeting cards.

6. Human-centric features

  • AR-enabled location radar(9)
When the user simply points the mobile phone at a surrounding retail establishment, it will display information about the store in the form of various icons. Through collaboration with Tabelog®, Gourmet Navigator®, and Hot Pepper® restaurant review websites, users can search for nearby restaurants simply by keyword or rating.
  • Connectivity with medical devices

  • Transportation and location-based public mode support

When the user approaches one of these areas, the mobile phone changes its settings accordingly.
  • Temperature and humidity index checker and wallpaper content
The mobile phone can display temperature and humidity information measured by its built-in temperature and humidity sensors, in addition to the temperature and humidity indices, as well as advice provided by the Japan Weather Association. This data is also linked to the wallpaper images of the F-01C, with the facial expressions and clothing of the weather mascot changing depending on the weather.
