Fujitsu Launches SaaS Solution for Interoffice Data Management and Sharing

- Gets up and running quickly, and flexibly responds to workplace demands -

Fujitsu Limited

Tokyo, May 06, 2010

Fujitsu today announced the availability of its new SaaS-based solution for managing and sharing business data between numerous office departments in real time. The new solution, RapidWeb Plus (RapidWeb+), is designed to work with un-systemized office tasks such as data management of business deals, profit-and-loss calculations, surveys, and other requests, which would often involve the exchange of files such as Microsoft® Excel® spreadsheets. RapidWeb+ allows business data that has been entered and modified by respective departmental managers over the Internet to be viewed and shared among affiliated parties in real time.

The new solution enables those persons involved to track both the status of a project and any interactions between managers, thereby speeding up business operations. As well, operational efficiency is improved due to the prevention of input and revision errors that would arise from the transmission of Excel spreadsheets and other related files by e-mail.

The new solution is appropriate for a wide range of industries and businesses.

Background

To this day, a majority of office processes have still not been systemized. Business operations depend heavily on exchanging files, such as Excel spreadsheets, back and forth via e-mail. However, this process of repeated e-mail communication makes it very difficult to determine the actual progress of a project, to keep track of updated versions of files, and to aggregate data.

In response to these challenges, Fujitsu has designed RapidWeb+, which allows business data to be shared and managed across multiple office departments in real time.

The new solution will be on display at Fujitsu Forum 2010, to be held on May 13-14 at the Tokyo International Forum.

Service Features

1. Helps make office administration more efficient
This SaaS-based solution speeds up and makes office tasks more efficient by enabling the sharing of information between affiliated parties and tracking the status of a project, over the Internet. This in turn, eliminates any input and revision errors that would arise from transmitting files, such as Excel spreadsheets, by e-mail.

2. Up and running quickly
In the past, building a customized management system required months to complete. However by employing the various business process templates tested by Fujitsu in its own operations, companies can get a trial environment up and running in approximately two days. Even without using these templates, companies can design their own business process layout and launch a trial environment in roughly five days.

3. Inexpensive system usage
Equipped with the ability to automatically generate web-based displays, RapidWeb+ dramatically reduces the number of steps involved in development while also reducing start-up costs. As it is a SaaS-based solution, companies do not need to construct a system by themselves. Furthermore, as there are no limits to the number of tasks or registered users, the service is inexpensive to use.

4. Supports individual customization
Customized applications can be built to suit customer needs and be utilized under a specialized SaaS-based solution (RapidWeb+ Premium).
