- New company to be established October 1 to expand business in collaboration with sales partners -

Fujitsu Limited,Fujitsu Business Systems Ltd.

Tokyo, March 18, 2010

Fujitsu today announced that, beginning April 1, 2010, responsibility within the Fujitsu Group for the planning and development of products and services for medium-sized businesses in Japan will gradually be consolidated with Fujitsu Business Systems Ltd., and from October 1, 2010, Fujitsu Business Systems will be reorganized into a new company committed to enhancing its offerings to this market and strengthening relations with partner companies.

Under the new organizational structure, business activities targeting medium-sized businesses in Japan will be focused on providing software packages for specific vertical industries or work processes, operational support services for ICT systems, and enhanced cloud computing services. Additionally, the new company will collaborate closely with sales partners to offer solutions to customers in a timely fashion.

1. The Fujitsu Group's response to current market conditions in Japan

With a challenging market outlook and deteriorating corporate earnings, large companies in Japan have already gone through a round of inventory adjustments and made cutbacks in their ICT investments. While there is a sense that business conditions for large companies have bottomed-out, the market environment for medium-sized businesses continues to be difficult. Medium-sized businesses, however, despite facing these challenging conditions, tend to view ICT as a pillar of their management strategies, and they are looking for ways to make more intensive use of ICT to create new business and expand customer services.

In this environment, medium-sized businesses understand the necessity of leveraging ICT to rapidly implement management strategies, and they want products and services that can quickly and easily be deployed as well as an ICT vendor that can offer one-stop support. Since May 2009, when the announcement was made that Fujitsu Business Systems was being converted to a wholly owned subsidiary of Fujitsu Limited, the Fujitsu Group has been honing its strategy for maximizing the value it can deliver to medium-sized businesses in Japan, which includes expanding its range of products and services, determining the best organizational structure, and collaborating with partners. Fujitsu Business Systems will become the nexus for the Fujitsu Group's accumulated know-how and experience relating to medium-sized businesses in Japan, as well as that of partner companies, to contribute to customers' success.

2. Enhancing products for medium-sized businesses

Fujitsu Limited and Fujitsu Business Systems both have a wealth of experience working with medium-sized businesses in Japan. Fujitsu Business Systems will build on this expertise to develop better products and services that will help those companies resolve the management challenges they face.

a) Enhancing software packages for specific industries and work processes adapted to the needs of medium-sized businesses
In Japan, Fujitsu has offered the GLOVIAsmart ERP solution to medium-sized businesses. Fujitsu Business Systems's experience and know-how in system deployment and support will make GLOVIAsmart more attractive to this market. Furthermore, bringing the development organizations for medium-sized clients all under Fujitsu Business Systems's roof will better equip the company to respond to the diverse needs of the medium-sized business market.

b) Providing a coordinated set of services for system deployments
Fujitsu Business Systems will offer system deployment-related services as a set in order to respond more quickly to the needs of its customers. As part of its deployment services, which make the process quick, inexpensive, and easy to understand for the customer, Fujitsu Business Systems plans to offer extended services covering everything from configuring servers, storage, middleware, applications, and networking hardware, both from Fujitsu and other companies, to system configuration, testing, and operational services.

c) Providing datacenter services to medium-sized businesses
Using Fujitsu Group datacenters, Fujitsu Business Systems can quickly roll out low-cost outsourcing services designed to meet the needs of medium-sized businesses. Fujitsu datacenter facilities are designed to withstand natural disasters and provide the highest levels of data security, in addition to being environmentally friendly. The facilities also offer operating technologies and systems that maintain high reliability and availability, protecting the customers' valuable data assets while easing the burden of system operations.

d) Enhancing cloud services
By making the most of the Fujitsu Group's considerable background in business applications, along with its services platform, Fujitsu Business Systems can help customers grow by developing and providing cloud services, especially applications delivered as software-as-a-service (SaaS) designed to meet the specific needs of medium-sized businesses.

Using the SaaS model, the Fujitsu Group in Japan currently offers a range of general business administration applications as well as specialized applications adapted to the specific needs of some 40 industries, and plans to continue expanding SaaS offerings optimized for medium-sized businesses, particularly in the form of GLOVIAsmart. Also, with an eye towards adapting further applications to the SaaS model and working more closely with partners interested in reselling services, Fujitsu is offering a SaaS Partner Program(1) with a variety of support options.

3. Enhanced sales-partner support program

In order to bring its solutions for medium-sized businesses to a wider range of potential customers, Fujitsu is developing programs to support and collaborate with sales partners.

a) Enhanced marketing program
Fujitsu Business Systems will undertake joint marketing activities targeting medium-sized businesses, helping its partners with planning and execution. This program will help Fujitsu collect and share information on customer needs, leading to better product development, and the ability to bring new proposals to customers.

b) Solutions support program
The Fujitsu Group supports its business partners in presenting sales proposals by sharing its collective case histories and expertise. In particular, sales partners can adopt the "sales through consulting" style practiced at Fujitsu Business Systems, which is highly regarded among the medium-sized businesses it serves. Fujitsu Business Systems will work with its partners to develop proposals clearly demonstrating the value of Fujitsu solutions.

4. Establishing a new organization

From April 1, the Fujitsu Group will gradually reorganize its services for medium-sized businesses to bring all the necessary functions under Fujitsu Business Systems's roof, establishing a new organization.

a) Planning, development, and sales promotion functions for medium-sized business solutions will be consolidated into Fujitsu Business Systems (April 1, 2010)
Fujitsu's GLOVIAsmart planning and development functions (approximately 130 people) will be integrated into Fujitsu Business Systems, merging the know-how, resources, and brand for solutions development functions. In addition to industry-specific and general administrative packaged software products and services, such as GLOVIAsmart, Fujitsu Business Systems will enhance its cloud services development functions and related sales organization.

b) New business promotion office within Fujitsu Limited (April 1, 2010)
The various functions relating to medium-sized businesses distributed throughout Fujitsu Limited will be integrated into a new organization of approximately 100 people, which will be responsible for strategy, business planning, and partner support. It will also streamline and coordinate partner business functions, bring together expertise, and optimize resource allocation.

c) Business promotion office functions consolidated into Fujitsu Business Systems (October 1, 2010)
The functions carried out by the new business promotion office at Fujitsu Limited as described above will be transferred to Fujitsu Business Systems. Bringing product planning and development, strategy and business planning, and partner support in the Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya areas under Fujitsu Business Systems's roof will further strengthen the organizational ability to serve medium-sized businesses.

As the core company in the Fujitsu Group focusing on medium-sized businesses in Japan, Fujitsu Business Systems is poised for growth and a broader range of business. To reflect its new role and mission, a new name for the company is planned to be announced on October 1.
