Fujitsu Launches Cloud Services

-Providing a highly secure, reliable cloud computing environment to customers-

Fujitsu Limited

Tokyo, April 27, 2009

Fujitsu Limited today announced that starting in May, it will begin rolling out its new Trusted-Service Platform, a cloud computing platform that delivers a range of IT services with superior reliability, security, availability, expandability, and energy efficiency.

Fujitsu will also be offering related consulting services to help customers build cloud environments and make their business processes visible, as well as integration services to plan and deploy systems that operate in a cloud environment.

Fujitsu's cloud services are not only geared towards corporate information and communication technology systems, but also for creating new social infrastructure systems that gather and process disparate data, such as from sensors and other technologies, in massive volumes while maintaining high levels of security and reliability. Fujitsu is positioning these services as the foundation to create new types of public and other large-scale IT infrastructure systems.

These services will allow customers to readily access the information and communications assets that they need, when they need them, regardless of the type of network or access terminal they are using or where they are. This new level of flexibility will enable customers to optimize the usage of information and communications technology resources as the economic climate changes, thereby enhancing their businesses.

In recent years, the use of information and communications technologies has spread throughout the fabric of everyday life, from making the business processes inside companies more efficient, to enabling transactions between individuals and businesses through e-commerce and other applications, in addition to linking individuals with one another in the Web 2.0 environment. This has also extended into the social infrastructure in areas such as transportation and healthcare.

As these technologies have become more important inside companies and essential to the development of their businesses, the ability of companies to cope with the sheer number of technologies, their complexity and maintenance burdens, as well as with rapid economic, environmental, and societal changes, has become a pressing issue.

Fujitsu is seeking to address this issue by providing its Trusted-Service Platform for cloud computing, which has the following features.

  • Server farm responding to customer needs quickly
The cloud services will be delivered through a highly optimized virtual server farm comprising tens of thousands of servers installed within a green datacenter, ensuring a highly reliable system environment.
  • Cloud Security Center for maintaining security and reliability (opening April)
A Cloud Security Center will be established to maintain, using advanced technology, the security of information and communications technology resources both within the customer's corporate environment and within the cloud.
  • Integration Services to optimize information and communication resources
The platform will provide an optimized environment that makes business processes transparent in order to facilitate the transfer of the customer's existing information and communications systems into the cloud environment (Cloud Service Integration Office to be established in May).
  • Management Services providing one-stop support for computing systems in the cloud
Provides one-stop support for the customer's information and communications systems within the cloud and helps to visualize implementation details as well as power consumption of servers, storage, and applications.

Fujitsu seeks to create new markets through the technological advances it is bringing to its datacenters in the areas of virtualization, autonomous operation, scalability, automation, security, usability, and environmentalism. It is also advancing its Trusted-Service Platform through establishing closer ties to its global partners.
