Fujitsu Limited
Tokyo, April 21, 2009 — Fujitsu Limited today announced the release of the new FMV-BIBLO LOOX U/C50N Eco model, the Japan's first(1) notebook PC to take part in Japan's Green Power Certification System(2). The new consumer model will be available in Japan from Fujitsu's Web Mart online store beginning today.
For each FMV-BIBLO LOOX U/C50N Eco sold, Fujitsu will purchase a Green Power Certificate equivalent to the total electricity the PC will consume in the course of its operating lifespan(3). When customers use their notebooks, the electricity consumed will be regarded as "green energy" that is generated from renewable sources and results in zero net CO2 emissions.
The funds used to purchase Green Power Certificates will help sustain green power(4) generation and expand the spread of renewable energy.
The Fujitsu Group is striving to reduce the burden on the environment of its PC, servers, and other IT hardware over the entire lifecycle of the products, spanning development and design, materials procurement and logistics, and including the power consumed by customers when using the products as well as recovery and recycling.
The Fujitsu Group is promoting its Green Policy Innovation initiative for lessening customers' total environmental burden, and by extension, the environmental impact of society as a whole. As part of the initiative, the FMV-BIBLO LOOX U/C50N Eco was designed to meet the current International ENERGY STAR Program(5) standards, along with the new standards that will take effect July 1, 2009. In addition, by participating in the Green Power Certification System, the power used by the FMV-BIBLO LOOX U/C50N Eco over its lifetime will be considered green energy, thereby enabling Fujitsu to further promote energy efficiency during product usage and the wider adoption of renewable energy.
