- Offering local quality and environmental assurance services for electrical and electronic components -
Fujitsu Quality Laboratory Limited,Fujitsu Limited
Kawasaki, January 19, 2009
Fujitsu Quality Laboratory Limited today announced the establishment of Chinese subsidiary Fujitsu Quality Laboratory (Suzhou) Ltd., which will offer local quality and environmental assurance services, including RoHS(1) compliance services, on electrical and electronic components procured from China by Japanese assembled product manufacturers. The new company began operations on January 7, 2009.
The services offered by Fujitsu Quality Laboratory (Suzhou) will make the quality monitoring of Chinese-made electrical and electronic components more efficient and help boost product quality. In the future, the company also plans to offer quality-improvement consulting services to Chinese electronic product manufacturers, assisting them in raising the quality and reliability of their goods.
Background
Fujitsu Quality Laboratory was established in Kawasaki, Japan, in August 2006 to capitalize on Fujitsu’s 70 years of experience managing manufacturing quality. The company provides an array of quality-related services, including reliability assessments and failure analyses of components and materials for electronic product manufacturers, and consulting to improve quality and lower costs. With the increasing reliance on components made in China, there is a growing need for these services, as well as for supplier quality monitoring, in order to relieve the burden placed on product manufacturers and assist them in maintaining overall product quality.
To address this issue, Fujitsu Quality Laboratory has now established Fujitsu Quality Laboratory (Suzhou) in China’s Jiangsu Province, a manufacturing center for Japanese-affiliated companies, to provide local quality and environmental monitoring of electrical and electronic components to Japanese companies that are handling this on an individual basis. As Fujitsu Quality Laboratory (Suzhou) can provide comprehensive monitoring of a given supplier, the process of environmental and quality monitoring is considerably more efficient than the sole respective efforts of many Japanese product manufacturers.
In the future, Fujitsu Quality Laboratory also plans to offer quality testing, failure analysis, quality-improvement consulting and training, material analysis, and environmental analysis to Chinese assembled product manufacturers. Towards that end, Fujitsu Quality Laboratory signed an agreement in September 2008 with the Wuxi Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau(2), a mandatory inspection government agency charged with raising quality among Chinese manufacturers, and the Mechanical and Electrical Product Testing Center of Jiangsu Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, to establish a joint testing lab. The lab will be designed to help all Chinese electrical and electronic components manufacturers, including those affiliated with Japanese companies, to improve their quality and reliability.
