  • [1] Knowledge Management

"Knowledge Management" or "Knowledge-based Management" is a management paradigm which recognizes knowledge as one of the most important assets for a company to create sustainable competitive advantage. There are two types of knowledge: tacit knowledge and explicit knowledge. The former is subjective, experiential knowledge that cannot be expressed in words or numbers. The latter is objective, rational knowledge that can be articulated. New knowledge can be created through a continuous process of dynamic interaction, conversion and transfer of tacit and explicit knowledge among individuals, groups, and organizations. Dr. Nonaka has proposed the SECI model (Socialization, Externalization, Combination, and Internalization) as a fundamental principle of knowledge creation, transfer, and utilization.
