Tokyo and Darmstadt, October 11, 2005
Fujitsu Limited and Software AG today announced that they have delivered a joint offering to help organizations manage integration components within a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA). CentraSite™, an open, next generation SOA repository, promotes greater collaboration between business and IT by uniting metadata from service oriented integration products, including Fujitsu's Interstage Business Process Manager™ and Software AG's Enterprise Service Integrator™ and Enterprise Information Integrator™.
Jointly developed between Fujitsu Limited and Software AG, CentraSite is an SOA repository that manages SOA metadata assets and enables maximum visibility and re-use of Web services components within and across organizations. CentraSite also provides reporting on those metadata assets and supports the sharing of the assets in the context of an SOA. This will enable customers around the world to quickly and cost-effectively implement initiatives for business transformation, process excellence and improved customer service.
"One of the key pre-requisites to successfully implementing SOA on a significant scale is the ability to store, track and manage all of the service, process, integration and other metadata as well as the control data for governance, compliance and event tracking that will only increase in significance and volume over time," said Yefim Natis, distinguished analyst, Gartner, Inc.
Fujitsu and Software AG will initially offer the following three products enabled with CentraSite:
- Fujitsu's Interstage Business Process Manager - models, automates and optimizes business processes to increase business agility, efficiency, competitiveness and profitability (see Fujitsu Software Corporation press release also dated October 11);
- Software AG's Enterprise Information Integrator - provides a single view of information to business users when and where they need it to enable better decision making;
- Software AG's Enterprise Service Integrator - an Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) that orchestrates web services into new business services from existing systems to more quickly align data and business logic with business requirements.
Both companies are in agreement to continue to extend the number of products enabled with CentraSite. Additionally, Fujitsu and Software AG are developing a "community" program to allow partners and other technology vendors to utilize CentraSite. This program is currently planned for introduction at the beginning of 2006.
Fujitsu and Software AG Sign Strategic Partnership Agreement
Following the March 1, 2005 announcement of a strategic alliance between the two companies, Fujitsu and Software AG have signed a Strategic Partnership Agreement to jointly develop and market CentraSite. Additionally, Fujitsu will market Software AG's Enterprise Service Integrator and Enterprise Information Integrator, and Software AG will market Fujitsu's Interstage Business Process Manager.
Business benefits include lower cost and cycle times of integration projects through maximized re-use of SOA components, increased responsiveness to customer requirements, a richer collaboration environment within project teams or across organizational teams, business risk mitigation through the ability to measure change impact, and less burdensome implementation of governance and compliance initiatives.
"Enterprises around the world are turning toward the implementation of SOA-based solutions in order to better align their IT infrastructure with their changing business needs," said Yoshiyuki Tanakura, Corporate Senior Vice President, Fujitsu Limited. "By building on our existing relationship with Software AG, we have been able to leverage our mutual technology innovation to deliver a new paradigm for SOA integration for meeting both the current and future needs of our global customers."
"In partnering with Fujitsu, we have combined our strengths and common vision to produce a revolutionary set of products for business integration based on the power and flexibility of SOA," said Karl-Heinz Streibich, CEO of Software AG. "Together we can now enable global enterprises to maximize the value of their service-oriented architectures by enhancing collaboration and providing a tight link between IT investments and business results."
Customers Validate Joint Offering from Fujitsu and Software AG
Based upon recent previews of the joint offering, Bundeswertpapierverwaltung, part of the Federal Ministry of Finance in Germany, and Entory, a specialist for business processes in the financial services industry, have provided strong validation of Fujitsu's and Software AG's groundbreaking approach to building an SOA. Additionally, BearingPoint, Inc., (NYSE:BE) a leading global management and technology consulting firm provided insight on how the two companies'initiative for building an SOA addresses industry issues.
"An efficient process is less dependent on its structure and more dependent on the way it is supported by tools and methodologies," said Hagen Buchwald, member of the executive committee and COO, Entory. "The orchestration of business processes and back-end systems through a Service-Oriented Architecture enabling focused measuring and monitoring is a significant competitive advantage for our customers."
"The joint offering from Fujitsu and Software AG can provide universal views of integration metadata across the enterprise and extended networks which are critical for business transparency and visibility." said Bobby Soni, senior vice president and chief technology officer, Client Services, BearingPoint.
