Fujitsu Sets Out the "Fujitsu Technology and Service Vision 2016"

Proposing a unique approach to driving digital transformation

Fujitsu Limited

Tokyo, April 15, 2016

Fujitsu today presents the latest evolution of the Fujitsu Technology and Service Vision. It proposes a different approach to help organizations incorporate digital technology into the heart of their business, strengthen competitiveness and grow the top line as well as the profit. It also outlines practical steps about how digital leaders can overcome the challenges of digital, by aligning and balancing new digital technology with their traditional IT assets.

Today, digital technology can be incorporated into products, services and processes, transforming customer outcomes and the way business and public services are delivered. This is digital transformation. Digital is a set of connected technologies, such as cloud, mobile, Internet of Things (IoT), analytics, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and supporting security technologies that come together to deliver valuable outcomes. As a result, business, society, and everyday life are all undergoing profound change.

The Fujitsu Technology and Service Vision has been launched each year starting in April 2013. Fujitsu has built this vision around digital technology and how it can empower people to create significant value for business and society. Fujitsu calls this approach Human Centric Innovation, which is the key to driving digital transformation.

The key messages of the Fujitsu Technology and Service Vison 2016 are:

  1. Digital transformation must be driven by a human centric approach

Digital transformation is about changing the way businesses create value for customers. In a digitalized, hyperconnected world, value is created by the coming together of three key drivers - creativity of people, intelligence derived from information and the connectedness of things and processes. Human Centric Innovation is about bringing together these things. Fujitsu believes it is the best approach to deliver successful digital transformation.

In 2015, applying this approach, Fujitsu conducted over 300 Proof of Concept and Proof of Business digital transformation projects with its customers. These projects can be categorized in a range of fields such as digital marketing, connected retail, smart mobility, logistics, smart factory, workstyle transformation, personal safety, smart agriculture, facility monitoring and Fintech.

  2. The new digitalized economy, demanding a different strategy

In the digital era, the borders of existing industries are increasingly becoming blurred and fluid. A diverse and extensive range of digitalized products and services will be connected via software, exchanging information, and delivering greater value for people. In this economy, value that consumers demand will be co-created by suppliers, partners and even the consumers themselves in newly emerging digital arenas.

For businesses, it is important to set out an architecture adapted to be a part of a digital arena. The competitiveness of a business will be measured by the strength of its ecosystem, how many robust value-creating connections it has with partners.

  3. A digital business platform, enabling a successful digital business

Companies want IT to drive business value more directly, so it impacts their top lines. How can they achieve this? A digital business platform is the answer. It helps an organization do three things - to empower their employees, to use intelligence derived from data, and to build fast, reliable connections with the external ecosystem.

Fujitsu provides a digital business platform, called MetaArc. This is a comprehensive framework for an organization to enable digital transformation. Based on scalable cloud computing infrastructure, MetaArc is designed to offer the capabilities of mobile, data analytics, IoT and AI technologies as a service. Fujitsu helps its customers align and balance the full potential of digital with their existing technologies, to help digital leaders reduce complexity and cost and deliver powerful new insights and valuable innovation for their businesses. Furthermore, Fujitsu is developing key AI technologies under a comprehensive framework, called Human Centric AI Zinrai, to realize a future in which people, empowered by AI technology, can achieve unimaginable breakthroughs. Fujitsu is incorporating AI research outcomes into its digital solutions and services available on MetaArc.

Fujitsu wants to be its customers’ business partner, sharing their challenges as well as their objectives and helping them achieve digital transformation.
