Fujitsu Introduces docomo ARROWS Tab LTE F-01D Tablet PC
High-Spec Water-Resistant Tablet Running on the Xi ("Crossy") Ultra High-Speed Communications Network

Fujitsu today announced that its new ARROWS Tab LTE F-01D tablet PC will be available from NTT DOCOMO, Inc. in Japan beginning October 19, 2011.
ARROWS Tab LTE F-01D, which is the first offering from Fujitsu's new ARROWS brand of smartphones and tablet devices, is powered by the ultra high-speed Xi communications network and is equipped with a variety of cutting-edge features, including a high-performance dual core CPU, DLNA connectivity, and a quick-response touchscreen. In addition, the tablet's lightweight and slim form factor delivers hi-fi video viewing through a large 10.1" display and front stereo speakers with Dolby® Mobile v3. Moreover, the F-01D's IPX5/7(1) water-resistance helps to expand the range of possibilities in the location where it can be used, such as the kitchen or bathroom.
Background
Amid a rapidly-expanding smartphone market, demand has increased for tablet devices that users can employ to view rich content, such as e-books and video delivery services, regardless when or where. With the launch of next-generation mobile communications services in Japan, it is becoming practical for users to access high-resolution video and other data-intensive content on a regular basis. This, in turn, has led to great demand for large-screen tablet devices that are optimized for viewing these items.
ARROWS Tab LTE F-01D is powered by NTT DOCOMO, Inc.'s ultra high-speed Xi communications network (downstream speeds of up to 37.5Mbps(2)) and is equipped with a high-performance 1GHz dual core OMAP4 CPU. As a result, users can enjoy quick Internet access including streaming videos and downloads.
Equipped with a 10.1" HD LCD display, front stereo speakers, and Dolby Mobile v3, F-01D allows users to fully enjoy video content that boasts striking visuals and realistic audio. Furthermore, in addition to providing the ability to effortlessly view one-segment broadcasts and other TV content at any time, the tablet PC also supports DLNA/DTCP-IP, thereby making it possible for users to view recorded blue ray disks of high-resolution digital terrestrial TV shows(3) over a Wi-Fi network from anywhere in the house, such as the bathroom or home office.
F-01D's lightweight body, measuring approximately 597g, is IPX5/7 water-resistant. This enables users to enjoy watching a movie or reading a book while relaxing in the bath. The tablet PC also includes hand gesture control functionality, which makes it possible for users to change one-segment channels or scroll down web pages without even touching the screen display.
ARROWS Tab LTE F-01D comes preinstalled with approximately 70 applications(4)—including Fujitsu's BooksV online e-book service, as well as restaurant, shopping and beauty applications—that meet a wide range of user needs. Xi's high-speed communications make is easy to download and enjoy a variety of rich content, including high-quality video delivery services such as TSUTAYA TV and Hikari TV. Xi ("crossy") ultrafast communications
Supports Xi ("crossy"), the next-generation LTE service, with download speeds of up to 37.5 Mbps, enabling super-smooth web browsing as well as quick and easy viewing of heavy content, such as Internet-based video.
Dual Core CPU
With the OMAP4 (1GHz) high-speed, high-performance dual core CPU for extraordinary processing performance, users can comfortably enjoy watching videos and playing the latest game applications.

Water-resistant & lightweight

As the built-in camera can recognize hand gestures, the tablet can be operated even without directly touching the screen. Style options
The tablet PC is pre-installed with six style options representing optimal combinations of wallpaper, applications, and widgets, depending on how and where it will be used. Users can easily switch styles depending on their mood or the situation in which the tablet PC will be used.
Text input
The tablet PC is equipped with a variety of text input modes, from one-handed input using a numeric keypad that is reminiscent of a mobile phone, to hand-written input using Fujitsu's proprietary high-speed and high-precision engine, taking full advantage of the tablet PC's screen size.
5. Full lineup of peripheral features for even further expanded usability
DLNA connectivity
By connecting to a DLNA-compatible blue ray recorder or other device, the tablet PC can play high-definition streams of recorded digital terrestrial TV shows.
Connectivity with USB devices
F-01D also supports USB On-The-Go. As a result, users can connect mass storage class specifications-compliant digital cameras in order to preview captured images on the tablet PC's large screen and store photos on its internal memory.
Wi-Fi connectivity
The tablet PC is compatible with the latest IEEE802.11n (2.4GHz) high-speed Wi-Fi communications standard. Through its tethering capabilities(5), users can connect up to eight Wi-Fi devices to the tablet at once.

[1] IPX5/7:
F-01D has been tested to be operable under high-humidity conditions (such as the bathroom) based on the manufacturer's proprietary testing standards. The following, however, should be kept in mind. Users should keep the tablet out of contact and avoid immersion in fluids other than tap water, such as water mixed with soap, shampoo, or bath salts. In case of contact, the device should immediately be washed with room temperature tap water. Users should avoid immersion in bath water and immediately remove the device if it is accidentally dropped into the water. Do not use for long periods of time in damp locations. After usage, the device should be removed from the bathroom. Users should avoid direct contact with shower streams. The device should not be used in a sauna. When moving from a chilly outdoor environment to a warm location, such as the bathroom, users should allow the unit to briefly warm up first. Do not charge the device while in the bathroom. IPX5 designation indicates that the tablet can function normally after being sprayed from all directions with water from a nozzle with a diameter of 6.3 mm at a rate of 12.5 liters per minute from a distance of approximately 3m for a period of at least 3 minutes. The IPX7 rating indicates that water will not penetrate inside the tablet and it will function normally after being gently immersed in a tank of room-temperature tap or still water of a depth of 1 m for approximately 30 minutes.

[2] Downstream speeds of up to 37.5Mbps:
Download speeds of up to 75 Mbps refer to the speeds that can be achieved in some indoor facilities within the Xi usage area. The maximum outdoor download speed within the usage area is 37.5 Mbps, and the maximum transmission speed is 12.5 Mbps. Communication speeds refer to the maximum speeds for sending or receiving data based on technical specifications rather than actual speeds. As the service employs the best-effort delivery method, speeds may decrease depending on the communications environment and network traffic.

[3] High-resolution digital terrestrial TV shows:
Applies to digital terrestrial TV programs recorded and stored on DLNA servers using the DTCP-IP copyright protection technology. To replay digital terrestrial TV programs, please use DiXiMPlayer. There is no guarantee of compatibility with all equipment supporting DLNA. Depending on the content, replaying content may not be possible. To view streaming digital terrestrial TV programs, an 11n wireless LAN connection is recommended.

[5] Tethering capabilities:
Tethering support is for 11b/g connectivity only. An sp mode account is required for use. Packet-communications charges may become considerably high, therefore it is strongly recommended that customers subscribe to a flat-rate packet service. After subscribing to such a service, packet-communications charges will be categorized as communications using a connected PC or other peripheral device. When tethering is enabled, all packet communications will be charged under this category, even if a peripheral device is not connected. After the customer has finished using the peripheral device, it is strongly recommended that they disable tethering. When tethering is turned on, sp mode features other than Internet connection and e-mail services cannot be used. When connected to the Internet, depending on the usage environment, applications (such as web browsers, games, etc.) on peripheral devices may not always function properly.
