SDGs Contribution Solutions
We, Fujitsu Frontech Group, develop and offer "SDGs Contribution Solutions" adding factors contributable to SDGs to Environmentally Conscious Solutions that we had offered customers for a long time.
The following is introduction of our actions on the environment and SDGs through the solutions.
Actions on SDGs in Fujitsu Group
Fujitsu Group defines "make the world more sustainable by building trust in society through innovation" as "Our Purpose" in Fujitsu Way, that is, its corporate philosophy, to deliver value for customers through technologies and to contribute proactively to the transformation of society.
We recognize that ICTs have something to do with all 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), now that they are essential factors for the life of the people and many of business activities. Therefore, we believe the philosophy stated in Fujitsu Way can be harmonized with the vector of SDGs.
We, based on SDGs, deliver value to customers, with digital technologies. And, we believe it must be the way to contribute to achieving SDGs that the value, through customers' customers, will be extended to the society as a whole, and eventually to the world as a whole.
Actions on SDGs in Fujitsu Frontech Group
We, Fujitsu Frontech Group, through the compliance with Fujitsu Way as well as establishment and practice of “Fujitsu Frontech Purpose”, strive to contribute to the achievement of SDGs.
Concretely, we establish the targets associated with SDGs such as “Climate” and “Resource circulation” in “Fujitsu Frontech Environmental Action Plan”, and take actions in the whole Group.
We have started new activities with our cutting-edge technologies and know-hows that we have developed, for the sake of more SDGs being achieved, as well as continue to promote and deepen the conventional activities such as the development and delivery of our green products excellent for energy / resource efficiency, and “Corporate Citizen” through our contribution to local community and donations.
For instance, we make efforts to communicate SDGs-related issues within our Group, conducting SDGs-related events, from the viewpoint that it is necessary to let the recognition toward SDGs sink within our Group so that we can promote and expand actions on SDGs. Moreover, we also strive to increase the knowledge and competence of core members who take actions on SDGs.
In terms of contribution to SDGs through our business, we put forward with the development and delivery of “SDGs Contribution Solutions”.

About SDGs Contribution Solutions
What's SDGs Contribution Solutions?
We develop and deliver solutions combining hardware with software, which include cutting-edge technologies such as UHF RFID tags (linen tags) and finance-related products and services. These solutions meet a variety of needs and expectations from customer in the markets like finance, retail, public facilities, health care, logistics and mobility as well as support various scenes in society including financial institutions, health care facilities and shopping centers.
"SDGs Contribution Solutions" that we develop, are in order to contribute not only to solving the environmental issues like climate change focused by SDGs, but to sustainable development of society and economy.
Flowchart toward Registration of "SDGs Contribution Solutions"
*1:Solution Divisions estimate how effective to reduce GHG emissions etc. if customer adopts ICT solution, by using a tool named "EcoCALC" that Fujitsu Limited established. After that, they input the results in a specific evaluation sheet and submit to SDGs Secretariat. In addition, they also create "SDGs Contribution Proposal" to explain to customers which SDGs the solution can contribute to, by using an original format.
(These processes are based on the scheme of "Environmentally Conscious Solutions" in Fujitsu Group.)
*2:SDGs Secretariat checks if the calculation result of submitted solution meets the criteria (the effect of reducing GHG emissions is 15% or more), if the relevance to SDGs picked up in "SDGs Contribution Proposal" is appropriate, and so on. And finally, it is determined whether to register as a "SDGs Contribution Solution" or not.
Basic Concept of Environmental Impact Assessment
Fujitsu Group assesses quantitatively how much environmental burden of customers the adoption of its solution services can mitigate, making use of algorithm developed by Fujitsu Limited.
With the algorithm, we convert the effect of adopting solution services into "environmental effect", by using a "environmental ruler". For instance, we simulate quantitatively the effect such as paperless (reduction of paper use), improvement of productivity and work efficiency, and convert these factors into CO2 emissions.
Process of Environmental Impact Assessment
Solution services can be considered to have their own life cycles consisting of multiple stages including planning, development, use, and disposal (e.g., renewal of the system).
The present assessment method targets the use stage that take place at customers' locations.
Environmentally Conscious Solutions
Fujitsu Limited has ever been certifying the solutions whose effect of reducing GHG emissions exceeds 15% as "Environmentally Conscious Solutions", by assessing quantitatively the effect derived from adopting solution services that Fujitsu Group delivers to customers.
Incidentally, because calculated effect of each solution service is based on the results of specific customer adopting, the degree of the effect is different from each customer.
We assess quantitatively CO2 emissions of before-and-after of adopting ICT solutions, by calculating from 7 kinds of environmental impact factors.
Example of SDGs Contribution Solutions
RFID Inventory Management System
- System summary
- This system enables customer to reduce the loss of sales opportunities and to improve work efficiency, by checking if the stock is adequate. For instance, this system can solve the issue, that many commodities had to be disposed due to excessive stock as a result that a factory side without information on stock volume in warehouse had produced a volume of commodities following the direction from HQs, because this system makes it possible to track the status of stock between factory, warehouse and shop as well as to visualize the stock volume and sales period.
This function helps customer to optimize logistics process and to reduce the waste generations as well as the loss of sales opportunities, by operating the factory production and warehouse storage which accord with the stock volume in shops. Furthermore, customer can realize the work efficiency related to the commodity inspection and stocktaking, by changing the way from individual inspection with barcode to batch inspection with RFID. - Before-and-after of system introduction
- Customer can reduce excessive stock, because this system enables customer to share present information on what-where-how many with all stakeholders, by reading RFID tags (linen tags) attached with commodities and cartons with the reader in time of inspection and by managing the results on cloud servers at once.
- Customer can also reduce the loss of sales opportunities, because this system enables customer to check in time of stocktaking if there are any commodities whose sales period will expire soon, by displaying the sales period in time of reading with RFID.
Contributable SDGs
Contributable factors:
Goal 9: Introducing eco-friendly technology and industrial process.
Goal 12: Curbing waste generations by reducing excessive stock.
Goal 13: Curbing CO2 emissions by shortening working hours.
