Helsinki, August 07, 2019
– Fujitsu today announces its successful ICT services tender for Finnish research organization VTT¹. The latest agreement represents an extension of Fujitsu’s existing, extensive ICT support contract, and encompasses a range of
digital technology services including support and specialist services, for example during the next stage of VTT’s Office 365 deployment.
The new contract, awarded to Fujitsu following an open tender process, represents the next stage in a 14 year partnership that has seen Fujitsu reform VTT’s IT systems. Under the new agreement, Fujitsu will manage the research organization’s hybrid infrastructure, ensuring VTT’s business-critical applications are always up and running. In addition, Fujitsu will manage workstation support and the migration to Windows 10 for 2,100 VTT employees, as well as the ongoing support for the Office 365 suite.
New contract includes enhanced cybersecurity
As a prominent public institution, VTT is investing significantly in improving its cybersecurity. To protect VTT’s systems, Fujitsu oversees the entire IT infrastructure from a state-of-the-art Security Operations Center in Finland. Data collected 24x7 by
Security Information and Event Management-based systems helps identify and then mitigate potential risks or threats.
Simo Leisti, Managing Director at Fujitsu Finland, comments: “Fujitsu offers unrivalled depth of expertise as well as the broadest portfolio of services and solutions, underlining our holistic capabilities in managing major infrastructure services. We are delighted to have been awarded this contract, which is part of the long-term digital transformation journey that we are undertaking with VTT. Together, we have come a long way, but we expect that the implementation of cloud-based applications and a truly effective managed security service will provide valuable assurance that VTT’s systems are continually optimized to provide the best support to users.”
Petri Kujala, Chief Information Officer at VTT, adds: “Our relationship with Fujitsu started back in 2005, when we decided to focus on delivering value for customers, rather than managing our own technology infrastructure. We were one of the first companies in Finland to outsource our ICT at the time and we intend to continue with this innovative approach to implementing and deploying new technology. We’re confident that this latest agreement will bring us additional benefits, such as increased agility thanks to cloud-based applications.”
