Munich, April 25, 2018 – Fujitsu has been selected by leading Swedish grocery retailer COOPOpen a new window to transform the point of sale (POS) technology in its stores located across Sweden. The contract involves the deployment of a complete, state-of-the-art solution including hardware, operating systems, displays and scanners, and related services, backed by five years’ ongoing support. The updated infrastructure ensures that COOP shoppers will experience faster checkout times, and also provides a foundation for the retailer to roll out future interactive customer-focused capabilities.
In a highly competitive market, grocery retailers like COOP must innovate to ensure the best possible experience for customers and to retain market share. Fujitsu was selected for the grocer’s transformation for its unique ability to provide an end-to end service, including products and services.
Karin Schreil, Managing Director of Fujitsu Sweden, says: “In the grocery industry, in particular, retailers are facing rapid change, while intense competition puts pressure on operating expenses. In addition, they must manage constantly changing customer preferences and shopping behaviors. To address these challenges, grocers need an infrastructure to serve customers efficiently today, and to provide solid foundations for introducing improvements and enhanced functionality over time. The flexible infrastructure that we are implementing for COOP allows the retailer to focus on its stores, product lines and customer satisfaction, while Fujitsu takes care of its ICT.”
The transformation of the COOP infrastructure also ensures that the grocer is able to roll out additional customer-focused capabilities at a later date, for example touch screens Fujitsu will also deploy Windows 10 IoT for COOP, opening up further potential for the grocer to harness data captured by smart devices to derive insights in the future.
