  • Runners-up: German partner SOHNIX AG, for sophisticated online training capabilities delivered for Wismar University, and Linx-AS of South Africa, for implementing transformative Enterprise asset management kiosks for Transnet

Fujitsu Forum Munich, November 08, 2017 Fujitsu today named Portuguese SELECT Expert Partner WWS as the winner of its third annual SELECT Innovation Award. The partner’s big data analysis project implemented for the Social Security Agency in Portugal to prevent and detect fraudulent medical claims impressed the award panel as the work has already significantly reduced fraudulent claims and is likely to save millions of euros.
Three runners-up: WWS from Portugal, German partner SOHNIX AG and Linx-AS of South Africa were invited to attend the Fujitsu Forum Munich 2017 event to see first-hand how this year’s theme of Human Centric Innovation: Digital Co-creation is being brought to life by Fujitsu and its wider ecosystem. As winner, WWS received a prize of 8,500 euros, to be used for joint channel marketing campaigns.
The SELECT Innovation Awards recognize the exceptional roles that Fujitsu’s SELECT Registered and SELECT Expert channel partners play in helping businesses co-create digital transformation and human centric innovation - Fujitsu’s unique approach to creating business and social change by empowering people with advanced technology. Channel partners achieve this not only through their expertise, but also by being recognized as trusted advisors, working alongside customers to co-create solutions to address their business challenges. Fujitsu’s annual SELECT Innovation Awards are designed to incentivize partners to ensure that each project they take employs a solution-led approach backed by a solid understanding of new technologies.
Dave Hazard, Vice President, Channel and Sales Operations at Fujitsu EMEIA, says: “These awards celebrate those channel partners who embody the spirit of co-creation and who bring the Fujitsu vision of Human Centric Innovation to life. They are our ambassadors, as they combine previously unconnected areas of expertise from across the digital ecosystem to enable businesses to achieve digital transformation. Each of our runners-up has approached customer engagements with an open mind, and has worked closely with them to co-create innovative solutions that leverage technology to meet business objectives and to drive positive change. These shortlisted projects illustrate the dramatic difference that our SELECT Experts are making to their customers today with groundbreaking solutions that are transforming learning, fighting fraud and securing the business environment.”
A committee of expert judges consisting of top Fujitsu executives reviewed all submitted award entries and evaluated them based on the extent to which the project had a transformative effect on the customer’s business, the level of innovation demonstrated, the intelligent implementation of Fujitsu products and services and the extent to which it helped bring to life Fujitsu’s human centric approach to digitalization. After narrowing the field to a shortlist of three runners-up, WWS was unanimously selected as 2017 SELECT Innovation Award winner.
WWS
A Portuguese startup that specializes in Big Data algorithms, WWS was selected as winner for its work with the Social Security Agency in Portugal to prevent and detect fraudulent medical claims. The solution involved processing claims using algorithms to identify the behavior patterns associated with fraudulent applications. The system was implemented to run on Fujitsu’s PRIMEFLEX for Hadoop integrated system for high speed processing. The result was not only a potential saving of millions of euros but a huge reduction in fraudulent claims for the agency and an enhanced reputation for social justice.
Rodrigo Pietro, CEO at WWS, comments: “Social responsibility is one of the foundations of Portuguese society. Consequently, it is crucial that people have faith in the system and trust that all payments are handled fairly and accurately. By implementing a new infrastructure that uses powerful algorithms to identify the patterns associated with fraudulent behavior we have been able to not only re-establish trust in the system, but also significantly reduce its misuse. And, throughout the course of the project, we’ve been able to rely on Fujitsu’s support to help our customers achieve the digitalization they need”.
2017 Fujitsu SELECT Innovation Awards Runners-Up
As the face of Fujitsu to many customers worldwide, Fujitsu’s SELECT Partner Program members play a key role in bringing Fujitsu’s vision of Human Centric Innovation to life. The awards ceremony at Fujitsu Forum in Munich celebrated those partners who most successfully helped customers drive digitalization and digital transformation.
SOHNIX AG
Germany-based runner-up SOHNIX AG specializes in delivering innovative IT infrastructure to its broad customer base. The SELECT Expert Partner was shortlisted for the work undertaken with Hochschule Wismar, University of Applied Sciences, Technology, Business and Design (Wismar University). The university wanted to deliver enhanced online training services to enable both new opportunities for learning and choice for students with limited time to attend lectures in person. SOHNIX transformed the learning experience by implementing Fujitsu’s Enterprise Service Catalog Manager alongside a Fujitsu private cloud (Fujitsu Server, NetApp, VMware vCenter). The resulting solution enables teachers to easily define, approve and allocate resources to students, maximizing support while optimizing use of resources.
Linx A-S
Also shortlisted was South African SAP expert Linx-AS for an enterprise asset management project with major logistics company Transnet. The customer wanted to enable users with limited computer literacy to easily access and interact with its SAP Enterprise Resource Planning data to manage the maintenance and production planning of the organization’s assets as part of a major fleet renewal project. Access to the data via shared devices required highly secure biometric authentication. The solution involved installing shop floor kiosks in Transnet’s factories and depots, with an easy to use touchscreen interface to access SAP enterprise asset management functions with Fujitsu’s biometric authentication solution PalmSecure and realtime bioLock™ deployed to prevent unauthorized access. As a result, shop floor and maintenance personnel can very quickly respond when maintenance support is required, reducing downtime and keeping plants and depots running more efficiently.
