Fujitsu Introduces docomo with series™ F-03D for Girls

An adorable smartphone for young women designed in collaboration with the widely popular "Popteen" magazine

Fujitsu Limited

Tokyo, January 13, 2012

Fujitsu today announced that its new smartphone, docomo with series F-03D for Girls, will be available from NTT DOCOMO, Inc. throughout Japan beginning January 20, 2012.

F-03D for Girls has been designed in collaboration with Popteen, a popular Japanese fashion magazine for teenage girls. Popteen's cute designs have been integrated into the smartphone, such as the home key's ribbon motif that is popular with girls, and the heart-shaped lace pattern around the camera. In addition, several different original phone covers are included, so users can enjoy dressing up their smartphone according to their mood.

F-03D for Girls is a water-resistant smartphone loaded with fun content in a cute design aimed at young teenage girls. The smartphone comes preinstalled with Popteen original wallpaper and widgets. It is also equipped with a photo decoration application that, like "purikura" photo booths, allows users to decorate their photos with handwriting and stamps.

Background

Amid a rapidly expanding smartphone market in Japan, the demand for products geared towards young girls is also increasing. F-03D for Girls was developed to provide this audience with an exceptionally user-friendly and versatile smartphone in an attractive design.

F-03D for Girls comes with a premium stylus that enables users to write intricate Japanese characters that are difficult to write using touch operation with one's finger. Using the stylus with the handwritten diary (Tegaki Diary) application freely allows handwritten input and the posting of photos, just like an analog pocket planner.

It is also equipped with many enjoyable handwriting applications, such as handwritten memo (Tegaki Memo), which enables users to choose from among a variety cute of design templates and original handwritten fonts, allowing users to create their own unique fonts from their handwriting.

Compatible with "Okudake-Juden"(1) wireless recharging (translated as "Just By Placing" wireless recharging), the smartphone can be recharged by simply placing it on the wireless charger, thus eliminating the physical process of connecting the handset with a wire-based charger. More stores and restaurants throughout Japan are expected to become equipped with "Okudake-Juden" to enable wireless recharging.

In addition to cute and convenient applications, F-03D for Girls is also water-resistant and equipped with one-segment TV broadcast, mobile wallet (Osaifu Keitai), and infrared communication function making it a great choice for girls who are first-time users. F-03D for Girls is available in the color Truly Pink, which was actually created with the support of Popteen's models.
