[1] EPC (Evolved Packet Core)
A mobile core network architecture implemented entirely in IP technology that provides support for multiple forms of wireless access, including LTE, along with user authentication, mobile control, charging control, and QoS control.
[2] S-GW (Serving Gateway)
For mobile terminals accessing LTE or 3G networks, this is a node for forwarding user data.
[3] P-GW (Packet Data Network-Gateway)
A node which connects the EPC and an external network, such as IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem), an ISP, or a corporate network.
[4] ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute)
A standardization organization established to set telecommunications standards for Europe.
[5] NFV ISG (Network Functions Virtualisation Industry Specification Group)
A group created inside ETSI to study issues related to carrier-driven network virtualization technologies, created in December 2012 with carriers as its main members.
