Fujitsu Recognized by CDP for Carbon Performance and Climate Change Disclosure

Fujitsu Limited

Tokyo, October 30, 2012

Fujitsu has been commended by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), which represents 655 institutional investors with $78 trillion in assets, for the action it is taking to reduce emissions and mitigate the risks of climate change, and its approach to the disclosure of climate change information.

Fujitsu is featured in CDP's Carbon Performance Leadership Index (CPLI). The CPLI highlights those companies within the large Japanese 500 companies (Japan 500) including companies in the FTSE Japan Index that have demonstrated a strong approach to climate strategy and emissions reduction in their CDP responses. Five companies from the Japan 500 Index are represented in this year's CPLI, based on analysis of the responses to CDP's 2012 questionnaire.

Fujitsu is also included in CDP's "Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index" within the Japan 500 that have displayed a strong approach to information disclosure regarding climate change. Companies are scored on their climate change disclosure, with high scores indicating good internal data management and understanding of climate change-related issues affecting the company. In 2012 it comprises 22 companies from the Japan 500 based on analysis of the responses to CDP's questionnaire which focused on greenhouse gas emissions, emissions reduction targets and the risks and opportunities associated with climate change.

Minoru Takeno, Head of Corporate Environmental Strategy Unit of Fujitsu Limited commented:
"Fujitsu recognizes climate change as both a risk and an opportunity for our business. While we are striving to reduce greenhouse gas emission from our business locations, we are actively committed to providing ICT that contribute a reduction in the CO2 emissions of our customers and of society as a whole. Being recognized in both the Carbon Performance Disclosure Index and the Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index is an acknowledgment of our effort on climate change and information disclosure."

Paul Simpson, chief executive officer of CDP, commented:
"Companies in the Carbon Performance Leadership Index are demonstrating a clear commitment to manage their greenhouse gas emissions and take action on climate change. Organizations which work to reduce their emissions and integrate climate change issues into their business strategies have the potential for cost savings, revenue generating opportunities and, ultimately, a more resilient future. Companies that make the Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index have demonstrated strong internal data management practices for the measurement of greenhouse gas emissions and energy use. They are also giving clear consideration to the business issues related to climate change and their exposure to climate-related risks and opportunities. This is vital to realising greater efficiencies, protecting the business from risk and capitalizing on opportunities."
