Fujitsu Limited

Tokyo, July 18, 2012

Fujitsu today announced that its new smartphone, docomo NEXT series ARROWS X F-10D, will be available in Japan from NTT DOCOMO, Inc. beginning July 20, 2012.

As Fujitsu's flagship model, ARROWS X F-10D features a 1.5GHz NVIDIA® Tegra® 3 quad-core CPU, NTT DOCOMO's ultra high-speed Xi communications service, a switch-enabled smart fingerprint sensor, the latest version of Fujitsu's Human Centric Engine, a 13.1 megapixel camera, and an 1,800mAh large-capacity battery, making it perfect for customers who desire high-spec capabilities and those who enjoy internet functions and gaming.

Smartphones continue to make rapid gains in popularity as customer needs become more diverse. Fujitsu believes that there is a large need for high-end models, and therefore, developed ARROWS X F-10D as a smartphone with sufficient power and speed to satisfy that need.

ARROWS X F-10D is equipped with the latest high-performance NVIDIA® Tegra® 3 quad-core CPU and is powered by NTT DOCOMO's ultra high-speed Xi communications service, enabling world-class performance. In addition, with a built-in 12-core graphics processing unit (GPU) based on NVIDIA® GeForce® technology, users can enjoy high-performance games with stunning graphics.

Product Features

1. Rapid responsiveness thanks to a quad-core CPU and Xi communications

  • NVIDIA® Tegra® 3 quad-core CPU
Clocking in at an unparalleled processing speed of 1.5GHz(3), the new handset features the Tegra 3 quad-core CPU, which has transformed the conventional wisdom about the possibilities of smartphones, alongside a fifth power-saving 'companion' core that moderates the operation clock to enable low power consumption while operating. The number of cores used depends on the processing load, and for light operations, only the power-saving fifth core is used, enabling both high performance and low power consumption.
In addition, with a built-in 12-core graphics processing unit (GPU) based on NVIDIA® GeForce® technology, users can enjoy high-performance games with stunning graphics.
  • Powered by Xi ultra high-speed communications
ARROWS X F-10D takes advantage of NTT DOCOMO's Xi network for speedy communications. As a result, users can watch high-resolution movies and other content, as well as browse the internet, with ease and comfort.

2. Switch-enabled smart fingerprint sensor for even easier-to-use security functionality

The phone's security lock can be released by simply pressing a switch and placing the user's finger on the sensor. This, in turn, eliminates the need to input a pattern or password, as in the past, when unlocking security features such as screen locks when turning the screen on.

3. Latest version of Fujitsu's Human Centric Engine delivers greater convenience

  • Best-in-class usability made possible through a special LSI
Based on the smartphone's orientation and motion, the handset can automatically determine whether or not it is being held in the user's hand with this newly added feature. While being held, the display will be prevented from turning off, and even if the user is lying down while using the phone and unintentionally tilts it, the screen orientation can be returned to its original state by simply shaking the handset two or more times. With its built-in accelerometer and microphone, the smartphone can detect the state of the user's sleep, and the new version of Fujitsu's proprietary Human Centric Engine technology includes features such as a sleep log that illuminates detailed information about the user's sleeping habits, including the duration of sleep, the number of times the user rolls over during the night, the loudness of the user's snoring, and sudden interruptions in snoring.

4. High-spec capabilities include a 13.1 megapixel camera and 1,800mAh battery

  • 1.3 megapixel camera enables high-resolution photos and videos
F-10D's camera is equipped with an "Exmor R for mobile" back-illuminated CMOS sensor, along with the "Milbeaut Mobile" image processing engine that incorporates a wide range of photography capabilities, including high-sensitivity capturing and noise reduction. The combination of these features allows for stunning high-resolution photographs and videos.
  • 1,800 mAh battery featuring Okudake-Juden wireless charging
The smartphone supports wireless charging with Okudake-Juden, which enables users to charge the handset's battery by merely placing it upon a popular wireless charger. This makes charging easy by eliminating the hassle of plugging in a charging cable every time the phone needs to be charged. Moreover, the phone can also be charged using standard batteries, making it convenient for users who choose to carry a backup battery.
  • Supports a variety of familiar mobile phone features
F-10D comes loaded with a full range of standard mobile phone capabilities, such as Fujitsu Mobile Integrated Dictionary +(4), a full-featured electronic dictionary that provides access to a total of 29 different dictionaries, including Kojien, English-Japanese Dictionary for the General Reader, Katei Igakukan, and dictionaries for three different foreign languages. Other features include water- (IPX5/8) and dust-resistant (IP5X) technology, one-segment broadcast reception, Osaifu-Keitai®, and infrared communications.

A wireless charging function from DOCOMO that is compliant with WPC standards.

  • [2] IPX5/8 water resistance and IP5X dust resistance

The IPX5 designation indicates that the mobile phone can normally function after being sprayed with water from a nozzle with a diameter of 6.3 mm at a rate of 12.5 liters per minute from a distance of approximately 3m for a period of at least 3 minutes. The IPX8 designation, in the case of F-04D, indicates that the mobile phone normally functions after being immersed in room-temperature tap water to a depth of 1.5 m for 30 minutes. When using the mobile phone, please ensure that all covers (including the rear cover) are completely closed. To maintain water-resistance, it is essential to replace these parts at least once every two years (costs separate). When using the mobile phone, please make sure to securely lock the lever of the rear cover by sliding it in the direction of the engraved mark. The IP5X rating indicates, as a degree of protection, that the mobile phone can be left in an environment with dust particles with a diameter of 25 µm or less for 8 hours, still function and remain safe to use. Depending on the usage environment, one-segment broadcasts may be affected by noise and may not be able to be received.
