FRDC研究员孙俊于2004年11月8日到13日参加了在美国华盛顿举行的ACM 13th Conference on Information and Knowledge Management (CIKM)并在Hardcopy Document Processing workshop上发表了论文：“Low resolution character recognition by dual-eigenspace and synthetic degraded patterns”。
在华盛顿期间，孙俊研究员还访问了富士通美国研究所（Fujitsu Labs of America, College Park, MD)以及由David Doermann博士领导的位于马里兰大学（University of Maryland)的Language and Media Processing Laboratory(LAMP)，并就OCR相关的研究进行了讲座和交流。
