Fujitsu to Take Technical Lead in EU Project to Boost IoT Security

Fujitsu EMEIA

Fujitsu Forum Munich, November 07, 2017 - Fujitsu today announces its participation as the technical lead in a new EU-funded innovation project on security in IoT – “Predictive Security for IoT Platforms and Networks of Smart Objects (SecureIoT)”1, intended to make the digital world more secure by enabling the automated risk management of Internet of Things (IoT) systems in automotive, manufacturing, healthcare and critical infrastructures.
The European project addresses the issue of diagnosing and minimizing security risks at the edge of networks, where the massive heterogeneity and unstructured policies related to IoT devices require new approaches based on automation and artificial intelligence. Under the framework of the Horizon 2020 program, Fujitsu and 13 other partners from nine EU countries will co-create solutions to protect against malicious behavior in systems and robots, with the goal of increasing the overall protection level for industry, consumers and society as a whole.
Securing the next generation of IoT services
The project is a joint effort by Fujitsu and other global leaders in IoT services and cyber security to secure the next generation of dynamic, decentralized IoT systems. Research partners will develop a range of open, end to end, scalable data-driven security services around the concept of predictive IoT Security – anticipating the security behavior of IoT objects through Artificial Intelligence and Big Data – as well as building realistic Industry 4.0 use cases. The solutions and recommendations developed in the project are intended to guide IoT platform providers, IoT solution integrators and IoT equipment manufacturers towards securing their products and services in line with existing and future security requirements.
Fujitsu was awarded the technical leadership in the EU-funded project based on its global leadership in IoT. Among the key factors in the selection of Fujitsu as technical lead are its Industrie 4.0 activites and the company’s new Industry 4.0 Competency Center2 in Munich, Germany. This brings together Fujitsu’s industrial IoT know-how, IoT platform technology, device management and services, as well as first hand manufacturing experience. The Competency Center provides significant resources, including approximately 300 experts in Europe and additional resources in Japan, to guide customers from project definition to proof-of-concept testing, through to rolling out full deployments.

Notes to editors

1The project, set to start in January 2018 and run until December 2020, will receive funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program. Grant Agreement is in preparation.
