New Fujitsu Mainboard Supports Intel Xeon W Processors to Satisfy Demanding Applications

Fujitsu EMEIA

News facts:
  • Fujitsu introduces long lifecycle D3598-B ATX mainboard for professional workstations and high performance PCs, built with powerful Intel® Xeon W processors for LGA2066 sockets
  • Mainboard operates in extended temperature range from zero to 50 degrees Celsius and features extremely low power consumption
  • Fujitsu also boosts flexibility and performance of industrial mainboard line-up with addition of 7th generation Intel core technology
Munich, October 17, 2017 -Fujitsu expands its extended lifecycle series of semi-industrial mainboards with the addition of the Fujitsu D3598-B ATX model, an ideal choice for performance-hungry applications such as CAD/CAM, video processing and animation software. This new mainboard is designed to deliver optimized performance in workstations and high-end PCs and comes equipped with the Intel C422 chipset (Basin Falls) and powerful Intel® Xeon W processors, designed for LGA2066 sockets with a thermal design power (TDP) value of up to 140 watts.
The mainboard memory of the D3598-B ATX model can be expanded to some 512 gigabytes DDR4-2666-RDIMM-RAM, ensuring that it is easily able to cope with memory-intensive applications, such as medical imaging applications. Promising continuous, reliable operation in a broader temperature range than normal – between 0° and 50° Celsius – the mainboard is suitable for setups that can only be cooled to a limited extent or that are exposed to higher ambient temperatures due to specific design or installation requirements.

Outstanding features include extremely low power consumption

The Fujitsu D3598-B ATX mainboard provides a comprehensive range of high-quality features, including a highly efficient power supply that guarantees extremely low power consumption across all operating modes. The board provides eight serial SATA-III interfaces for hard drives, as well as onboard RAID. Fast M.2 interfaces with PCI Express and NVMe allow the connection of 2260 and 2280-type solid state drives (SSDs), and additional SSDs can be integrated via optional Fujitsu M.2 carrier boards.
For connecting peripherals, the new mainboard has USB ports for both USB 2.0 and 3.0, including USB 3.1 Type C. It boasts seven PCI Express slots (Gen 3), with 48 PCIe lanes, allowing users to install multiple graphics cards – ensuring that workstations equipped with the Fujitsu D3598-B ATX mainboard deliver the performance required for high-end, graphics-intensive applications.
Peter Hoser, Director Sales Mainboards at Fujitsu, says: “The Fujitsu D3598-B ATX is a mainboard for the most demanding applications, providing outstanding performance, excellent quality and a comprehensive feature set as well as ensuring reduced power consumption across all operating modes. Thanks to an extended operating temperature range of up to 50 degrees Celsius, the new mainboard is also suitable for operation in environments that traditionally prove to be hostile to off-the-shelf computer components.”

Intel’s 7th generation core technology boosts current series of Fujitsu industrial mainboards

Fujitsu is also extending its current series of Mini-ITX, μATX and ATX industrial mainboards, with an even wider choice of CPUs, including both Skylake and Kaby Lake versions. Similar to the 6th generation Skylake processors, Kaby Lake processors are built for the LGA1151 socket, but can be run at higher clock rates and with reduced power consumption. Fujitsu’s D34xx-S2 generation mainboards are also designed for an extended sales lifecycle with a form factor that is identical to the previous model, ensuring a smooth upgrade path.
The latest generation of powerful industrial mainboards offer an ideal solution to a wide range of computing requirements. The Fujitsu D3446-S ATX mainboard is especially suited for workstations and entry-level servers, as well as for medical and other high-performance applications that need to run 24/7. The Fujitsu D3441-S μATX mainboard is designed for continuous, round-the-clock operation in a wider than usual temperature range, up to 60° Celsius, and is equipped with the Intel Q170 Express chipset, making it particularly suitable for special requirements in markets such as digital imaging, and for deployments such as industrial automation. The Fujitsu Mini-ITX mainboards D3434-S and D3433-S both offer a variety of functions and expansion options including mini-PCIe, m-SATA and M.2, all with a small footprint.
Fujitsu mainboards are developed and manufactured in Augsburg, Germany, giving customers in Europe the added advantage of short delivery times and reduced shipment costs.

Pricing and availability

The Fujitsu D3598-B mainboard family will be available from the end of October 2017, with a guaranteed minimum three-year availability which can be extended until 2021 if required. Throughout the product’s entire lifecycle, Fujitsu’s strict lifecycle management is designed to prevent revision changes. Any changes required will be communicated early via Engineering Change Notifications (ECN). Fujitsu mainboards are available via distribution partners. The D34xx-S2 series of industrial mainboards is available immediately.

Further features of the D3598-B mainboard

Fujitsu has placed particular emphasis on safety and availability. The board is equipped with a three-stage Hardware Watchdog, which works with an autonomous system monitoring controller to initiate an automatic system restart should hardware or software problems occur. The integrated Software System Guard monitors the temperature of both board and computer housing while the Silent Fan controller ensures that temperatures are kept in an optimum range for the processor and other components, helping to extend system lifetimes.
Further functions can be added via additional half- and full-size mini-PCIe slots, suitable for cards with COM ports and WLAN modules, while wireless LAN and Bluetooth adapters can be integrated via an M.2 slot and 3436-S adapter card. For connecting to wired local networks, the board offers two Gigabit Ethernet ports.
For added security, hard disk access can be password protected. The Erase Disk tool allows users to safely and securely delete the contents of HDDs and SSDs. In addition, Fujitsu has integrated an Infineon TPM 2.0 Trusted Platform Module to further protect system integrity.
