Fujitsu to Support Clean Energy Regulator with ServiceNow in Protected Cloud

News facts:
  • The Clean Energy Regulator (CER) is the third federal government agency to sign up to Fujitsu’s industry cloud for government, built on Vault Protected Cloud.
  • Fujitsu Protected Cloud SaaS solution for government agencies enables digital transformation in a trusted and secure cloud technology environment.
  • Protected Cloud, offered by Fujitsu in partnership with Vault, is a secure offering that includes Infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS), Backup-as-a-Service (BaaS) and Government Desktop-as-a-Service (GovDaaS).
Sydney, September 20, 2018 – Fujitsu today announced the Clean Energy Regulator (CER) will use ServiceNow in the Protected Cloud platform as a Software as a Service (SaaS) offering. The platform is fully managed by Fujitsu in accordance with the relevant Information Security Manual controls for a PROTECTED environment. The new agreement is in addition to CER’s existing managed services contract with Fujitsu.

The third federal government agency to sign up to the purpose-built SaaS solution, CER is a non-corporate Commonwealth entity operating as a part of the Department of the Environment and Energy. It is responsible for administering legislation to reduce carbon emissions and increase the use of clean energy in Australia.

The Protected Cloud portfolio, an element of Fujitsu’s multi-cloud, multi-partner approach to hybrid IT, is delivered in partnership with Vault as an ‘Industry Cloud’ for Government and Critical Services; certified by ASD to PROTECTED level. This approach provides Fujitsu government customers with a choice of a government industry cloud from both private and public cloud platforms. This ensures that Fujitsu’s government clients have the right platform for their needs to offer enterprise productivity, a high degree of data security, governance and business functionality. Fujitsu is the first to provide SaaS Protected offerings to the Australian Federal Government. Fujitsu SaaS offering "ServiceNow" has been iRap assessed to operate and meet the requirements of a PROTECTED environment.

Mike Foster, Chief Executive Officer, Fujitsu Australia and New Zealand, said, “The Protected Cloud continues to gain interest from Federal Government agencies as they continue to embrace digital transformation. With this solution from Fujitsu, government agencies now have more flexibility in their ability to implement the right solution in a trusted and secure environment.”

Steven Stolk, Chief Information Officer, CER, said, “Implementing ServiceNow IT Service Management will give us better visibility into the performance of CER’s IT services. The Fujitsu Protected Cloud environment provides the flexibility to take advantage of commercially-available platforms such as ServiceNow with the confidence that the specific security needs for government are met.”
