FACOM M-200 (1978)
An ultra-large general purpose computer which was introduced in 1978 and was the world's largest and fastest in its position at the top of the M series of computers developed with the latest technology. Its exceptionally high speed, large-volume processing capacity was praised along with its high reliability, and it was adopted in many corporations and universities including the Nagoya University Plasma Research Center, Kyoto University, and Kanto data center. The main specifications of the FACOM M-200 were: (1) CPU quantity up to 4 units, (2) main memory unit capacity up to 16MB, and (3) buffer memory capacity of 64 KB. Its primary features were: (1) ultra high-speed processing, (2) enhanced multi-processor mechanisms, (3) enhanced multiple virtual storage mechanisms, (4) high reliability, and (5) a full range of software.
