With Respect to the State of Emergency Declaration from the Japanese Government

April 08, 2020

The Fujitsu Group expresses its sincerest condolences to those who have lost their lives in their fight against the new coronavirus. We also offer our deepest sympathies to all of those affected by the disease and its profound impact on society.

As stated in Fujitsu's announcement regarding its response to the coronavirus COVID-19, published on March 24, 2020, Fujitsu continues to give top priority to ensuring the safety of its customers, partners, employees, and their families, and has taken decisive, ongoing action to prevent the spread of infection. Simultaneously, Fujitsu continues to provide products and services to its customers while taking various steps to mitigate the impact of various social issues arising from the spread of infection.

Following the issuance of the State of Emergency Declaration by the Government of Japan on April 7, 2020, President and CEO Takahito Tokita sent the following message to Fujitsu Group employees around the world. His message demonstrates that Fujitsu remains fully committed to working together with all those concerned to resolve these major social issues during this difficult time.

Excerpt from President's Message to Fujitsu Group Employees

CEO and CDXO Takahito Tokita

Today, with the rapid spread of the new coronavirus infection, the Japanese Government has declared a state of emergency.

In the midst of this uncertain state where physical movement is being restricted, remote work and communication is becoming a norm and the psychological anxiety of being infected is constantly on our minds, I am extremely proud of all the employees within Fujitsu who are supporting our customers' business continuity as well as employees who are on the front lines working hard in maintaining that societal functions are in order. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you all for your devoted efforts and hard work.

As you are all aware, Fujitsu's mission is to sustain and support basic social infrastructure with the use of ICT.

With that in mind, during these times of hardship, "trust" is the notion that supports us and our society. I ask you to be compassionate with our customers and amongst ourselves, strengthen our sense of unity by closely communicating with each other and we will overcome these difficult times together.

And I urge each and every individual to please act responsibly. Small actions that we each engage in will end up having a big impact in improving our society and you could all become a contributor to this.

Finally, I wanted to reiterate the message to please prioritize yourselves and your family's health and safety and continue to do everything we can in improving the current situation.

I would also like for us to promote our internal measures further. These include working from home, shift internal F2F meetings to online or tele-conference, and postponing and/or taking alternative measures for F2F meetings with customers and partners. If commuting to the office is inevitable, please be careful of your surroundings and practice social distancing.

For daily operations which are essentially difficult to work from home such as working from customer sites or providing maintenance services, I would like to ask each of the managers to communicate and request to the customer to minimize onsite operations and to take necessary infection preventive measures.

We are at a critical point now. Each and every one of your actions will make a difference and let us work together to resolve these societal issues at hand.
