100G Technology
The FLASHWAVE 9500 platform incorporates 100G coherent optics technology to support 100G core network element interconnection and fiber plant conservation. This affords a tenfold improvement in overall network capacity, and eliminates the need for costly and disruptive overlay networks. The units are available as both 100G transponders and 100G muxponders, which can be used to transport and aggregate 10 GbE, OC-192, STM-64, and OTU-2 client services, maintaining a flexible OTN DWDM-based core growth strategy. Fujitsu is an industry leader in the development of 100G technologies, optical components, and modules that are widely used throughout the industry.
High-Density ROADM
The integrated, pluggable ROADM modules provide capacity scaling and enable future network growth and flexibility. By simply installing additional ROADM modules, a hub site can support from 2D to 12D configurations for mesh network wavelength mapping. The central switch fabric optimizes the ROADM technology through sub-wavelength grooming and aggregation. Carriers have the flexibility to mix and match wavelength services as needed, supporting up to 88 channels of 10G, 40G, 100G wavelengths, along with the capacity to support their future network requirements.
Multiservice Provisioning Platform (MSPP) Applications
Many applications require service aggregation and switching for SONET, Ethernet, and OTN services. Traditionally, these services were supported by separate platforms, one for each technology. The FLASHWAVE 9500 platform supports a centralized switch fabric that is capable of switching and grooming all of the technologies within a single, common system. In addition, multiservice, multirate modules are available where each port can be provisioned independently to support OC-3/12/48 or GbE services. The ability to offer multiple service types on one card minimizes spares inventory and operational training.
Updating Legacy DCS Network Elements
With its centralized switch fabric, the FLASHWAVE 9500 system offers a solution to updating legacy DCS network elements. The platform can be used in combination with the FLASHWAVE 4100 ES Micro Packet ONP to provide high-density DS1 and DS3 interfacing. The result is modernization of the 3/3 and 3/1 DCS environment using next-generation NEs and centralized Test Access Point (TAP) monitoring and split testing.
