News facts:

  • Fujitsu has established support capability in Australia and New Zealand for its groundbreaking Internet of Things iMotionTM Edgeware management platform
  • Developed to leverage the proliferation of Internet-connected devices across multiple business applications
  • iMotion is the critical layer for connecting the world of sensors, assets, devices, networks and enterprise systems
  • Automation of ‘edge’ processes creates valuable information, enables real-time visibility and intelligent business decisions
Melbourne, May 28, 2015 Fujitsu today announces it has established an end-to-end capability in Australia and New Zealand around the Internet of Things (IoT) iMotionTM Edgeware management platform. The platform turns real-time events and raw data into meaningful and valuable information to assist in complex decision making.
The IoT iMotion Edgeware platform provides the link between automated identification technology and enterprise applications. It allows organisations to build a hardware-independent platform with multiple connected sensors, readers, devices, handhelds, networks and other sensors that integrate with rich data from corporate systems. iMotion also translates raw tag data from fixed or mobile devices into relevant business contexts (intelligence) that can transact activity and automatically integrate to back-end systems, without the need to change enterprise or supply chain systems.
iMotion is the key management platform of Globeranger, which was acquired by Fujitsu in May 2014. ‘Edgeware’, a term coined by Globeranger, is now vital to robust IoT architecture and is used to describe the software that processes transactions ‘at the edge’ of the network.
With IoT and Big Data creating huge growth potential to the global economy, the number of Internet-connected devices is forecast to grow to 50 billion by 2020. With its iMotion capability, Fujitsu is now positioned to address the business challenges that will arise from this trend.
Mike Foster, Chief Executive Officer of Fujitsu Australia and New Zealand, said: “We are making a significant investment in our iMotion capability as we can see a multitude of opportunities in this region, across many different vertical markets. The IoT iMotion Edgeware platform addresses a growing market need that will leverage our core services in systems integration, project management, implementation and management. We are well placed to leverage Fujitsu’s global experience in implementing many successful projects that have delivered very impressive returns for our customers.”
Worldwide, Fujitsu has successfully deployed iMotion Edgeware solutions to streamline business processes such as inventory and warehouse management, safety and compliance, supplier management, real-time location as well as asset management and tracking. These deployments have been for customers in industries as diverse as electronic manufacturing, power generation, distribution, commercial aviation, emergency services, including Policing and State and Federal Government agencies.
