Fujitsu launches Cloud Services Portal for Locally Built Australian Cloud Environment

Fujitsu Cloud Services Virtual Conference Offers Vision Into The Trusted Fujitsu Cloud

Fujitsu Australia Limited

Sydney, October 07, 2010

Fujitsu, a leading provider of ICT business solutions, today announced the launch of its self-service Cloud Services Portal, to offer a fully flexible model for IT infrastructure, platforms and applications, allowing enterprises to match technology systems and costs directly to changing business needs.

The combination of Fujitsu’s proven Cloud Services and the ready accessibility of the Portal overcomes the challenges otherwise blocking the adoption of Cloud services at the enterprise level: security, border controls compliance issues, lock-ins and restricted licence options. The portal enables customers to adjust services and usage in real-time with actual pay per use.

Fujitsu is the only vendor currently operating a true cloud environment for Australian customers with a single point of customer interaction for the provision and coordination of every type of Cloud service.

No other trans-Tasman vendor is able to offer the breadth and depth of Cloud services covering Infrastructure, Application, Activity and Content with a comprehensive range of configuration options to overcome platform lock in issues.

Critical to financial services organisations and government agencies is the ability to rely on Australian data centres which keep sensitive financial data under local jurisdiction and compliance standards. The option of a private cloud infrastructure isolates crucial data within a secure platform.

Fujitsu has invested more than $1 billion USD into Cloud computing on a global scale, with significant investment into the design and implementation of a local Cloud environment to meet the data sovereignty requirements of the domestic marketplace, particularly those of the Financial Services and Government sectors.

Fujitsu’s Cloud Services are based on the operation, across Australia, of multiple locally designed, installed and managed data centres. These ISO 27001 accredited data centres leverage Fujitsu’s strong heritage in integration and managed services to reduce risks relating to security and performance. Resilience and disaster recovery options of up to 99.999% are available. Critical to Fujitsu’s global sustainability program, the centres also boast energy efficient infrastructure, resource optimisation and high-capacity computing.

Cameron McNaught, Executive General Manager Solutions for Fujitsu Australia and New Zealand said: “Fujitsu is committed to cloud services in the local region, and our current Cloud environment has already proven success in production for our local customers.”

Customers running in production in our local cloud environment include leading organisations in the banking and financial services, manufacturing, utilities and health industries, as well as government and not-for-profit organisations.

In an Australian first, Fujitsu will conduct the ‘2010 Fujitsu Cloud Services Virtual Conference’, on Tuesday 26 October and Wednesday 27 October, for Australian IT decision maker to view a demonstration, live and in real-time, on how to set up and manage Fujitsu’s trusted Cloud via the new Portal. This event offers the first glimpse of Fujitsu Service Connect via the cloud services portal. Cameron McNaught, Executive General Manager Solutions, will demonstrate how easy it is to self-serve and manage using this revolutionary tool.

“This vision into the Fujitsu Cloud is a practical, convenient way to find out how our services can simplify IT management, increase productivity and dramatically reduce costs. Attendees will be able to explore all aspects of this burgeoning environment with our experts. As a virtual conference, you can participate in your own lunchtime from your own desk,” McNaught said.
