Fujitsu Australia Limited

Wellington, November 09, 2009

Fujitsu, a leading provider of business, information technology and communications solutions, officially opens its new Service Centre operation in Auckland today. The Global Delivery Centre will be opened by the Prime Minister the honourable John Key during a lunchtime ceremony.

The establishment of this new facility has come as a direct result of Fujitsu’s recent deal to provide end user computing services to Qantas personnel across the globe. Fujitsu is providing cross functional services, and desktop, file and print, messaging and storage services for over 20,000 desktops and 280 servers for the airline. Fujitsu’s new Auckland Centre will provide part of these services for Qantas.

More than 45 new jobs have already been created with further growth planned as Fujitsu extends its services to both new and existing customers. Auckland was selected as a location for this centre as part of Fujitsu’s ongoing commitment to New Zealand as a Centre of Excellence for Service Delivery in the Asia Pacific Region.

Stuart Stitt, Fujitsu’s Managing Director for New Zealand said he was excited that Fujitsu was expanding its operations in Auckland. “This Service Centre is a highly valuable asset to our organisation and we are pleased to be able to expand our resources in this area to meet the growing demand for new business.”

Fujitsu has also expanded its Wellington service centre operation creating 10 new positions to provide technical support to nearly 2,500 employees at BOC Gases. A managed services customer since 2002 the BOC Service Desk has relocated from Sydney, its previous base, to Wellington becoming fully operational in October.

General Manager for Managed Services in New Zealand, Paul Bourke stated “We recognise the high quality of people available in New Zealand, and with our excellent links to universities and training providers, we are able to find people with the right skills”. With over 50 new local jobs created Bourke went on to say. “The enlarged presence here expands our local industry capability as well as giving Fujitsu the opportunity to increase exports of IT services from New Zealand to other international businesses.”
