Fujitsu appoints enterprise architecture lead

Fujitsu Australia Limited

Sydney, March 15, 2006

Fujitsu Australia has appointed Travis Gehri to lead its Enterprise Architecture Practice. Travis, who joins Fujitsu from EDS, brings more than 20 years experience in business and IT management and consultancy.

In his role as National Practice Lead for Enterprise Architecture at Fujitsu, Travis is responsible for improving market understanding with regard to the use of Enterprise Architecture as a tool within business/ IT strategic planning, organisational re-engineering, enterprise program/ portfolio management, business intelligence and change management disciplines. He is also responsible for improving market awareness of Fujitsu’s Enterprise Architecture services and capabilities.

In addition, Travis will develop and coordinate Fujitsu’s Enterprise Architecture capabilities across Australia and New Zealand, organising Fujitsu’s Enterprise Architecture community of interest in support of the advancement of the maturity of Enterprise Architecture frameworks and methods.

Martin North, Executive General Manager, Fujitsu Consulting said, “Travis has a strong business focus with significant experience in applying Enterprise Architecture to simplify enterprise understanding and develop solutions that align business strategies with supporting enterprise capabilities and enabling technologies. His direct hands-on approach to problem solving and his depth of experience in managing teams to produce quality results are attributes which align very closely with Fujitsu’s outcomes driven approach to business and IT consulting.”

On his new role with Fujitsu, Travis Gehri said, “I am excited about the future of Enterprise Architecture and I believe Fujitsu is in a strong position to be a market leader in this area. Enterprise Architecture planning services have become increasingly important to business managers who are trying to promote such benefits as broad access to information, efficient re-use of processes, components and services, and effective management of scarce resources. Fujitsu’s drive to achieve results, coupled with its advanced methods and strong practitioner community, is exactly what the market is looking for in an Enterprise Architecture services provider.”

On the future of Enterprise Architecture, Travis said, “The competitive landscape has changed with more agile organisations improving performance to a point where they are setting new benchmarks for cost, customer service and responsiveness. Smart organisations are carefully managing their investments in time, resources and intellectual capital to face these competitive pressures and improve business efficiencies in line with business strategies. Proper planning, Enterprise Architecture and initiative governance can ensure that business processes and systems provide the required value to the business at a reasonable cost, while still allowing for future business growth and change.”

Prior to joining Fujitsu Consulting, Travis was the Architect Practice Leader for EDS in Asia Pacific, responsible for the development and maintenance of Enterprise and Systems Architecture methods and practices. He was also responsible for co-ordinating and mentoring more than 150 practitioners, working within the Government, Telecommunications, Financial Services, Manufacturing and Consumer/Retail sectors.

Before joining EDS, Travis was a member of the executive team of RAMS Home Loans in Australia, with the primary responsibility of ensuring that business systems effectively serviced the rapid growth of RAMS.

Travis moved to Australia in 1997 with his family. Prior to this, he was a partner in the Highland Group, a management and information systems consulting firm in the US. Travis holds a Masters degree in Business Systems from Monash University in Australia.
