Fujitsu has won a four-year contract to implement, manage and support CSIRO’s new mySAP environment. The project, a key initiative to implement enterprise-wide systems across CSIRO’s 21 divisions, is a core component of CSIRO’s strategic objective to unify and streamline management of the organisation under the “One CSIRO” banner.
The contract, which runs over four years, was awarded to Fujitsu in a competitive tender process. Under the terms of the contract, Fujitsu will develop and manage the mySAP implementation and provide ongoing support for 7,000 users across Australia. This significant project will lead to the creation of approximately 30 new full-time positions for Fujitsu and an expansion of Fujitsu’s national SAP practice into Canberra. Fujitsu currently operates SAP practices in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
The project represents the first Australian implementation of mySAP to be built on Fujitsu’s innovative SAP Adaptive Computing solution, FlexFrame for mySAP Business Suite. Jointly developed by Fujitsu, SAP and Network Appliance in 2002, FlexFrame has been implemented in more than eighty sites worldwide, where it has achieved substantial cost savings. It is a highly proven and secure technology that provides greater business flexibility and up to 62% lower cost of ownership compared to traditional SAP installations.
Rod Vawdrey, Chief Executive Officer, Fujitsu Australia and New Zealand said, “FlexFrame is a highly flexible and scalable solution which will provide CSIRO with considerable costs savings over the life of the project. It is a great solution for government departments with an eye on lowering total cost of ownership while benefiting from the functionality contained within SAP.
“The CSIRO project is a fantastic win for our SAP practice and for the Fujitsu team in Canberra. It is a great demonstration of our end-to-end capability and collaboration across the wider Fujitsu organisation. We’re very excited about working with CSIRO and helping it meet its business objectives.”
“In recent years we have successfully delivered large and complex SAP projects for organisations such as Airservices Australia, the NSW Roads and Traffic Authority and NSW Ministry of Transport and established an impeccable track record in implementing SAP for Australian government and semi-government organisations,” said Jean-Pierre Deruddere, Executive General Manager, Enterprise Solutions, Fujitsu Australia and New Zealand.
“We believe that our ability to deliver on time and budget for SAP projects, our competitive go-to-market strategy, the quality of our people and our innovative technology, have all been major elements in CSIRO’s decision to appoint Fujitsu,” added Mr. Deruddere.
In addition to managing the mySAP implementation, Fujitsu will also supply and manage all of the necessary infrastructure to support the SAP environment, the security, network elements, hosting and service desk.
